File - GTS - Global Travel System
Description: Introduction:

I got the Idea for this Mod from Fallout 2. It seems to be an open world, but actually it's a fake. It only connects cells with teleport-triggers and covers it with a World-Map. And between the content-cells are a high amount of empty wilderness cells, whose are nothing but Puffer between the game content. It has in no means an open world in one world-space like Oblivion or Fallout3.

In Oblivion I recognized several tries of the community to add big parts of the Oblivion Continent, behind the Borders, but until now you can't find the Mainland complete, as the task can't be done from a few people and mostly mod-creators work independent.
Now, the Play World of Fallout 3 is bigger than Oblivion, but the scale is much smaller and our world or even the U.S.A. on this scale is much, much bigger than the Oblivion Mainland. So, there is really no Hope we ever can see all the U.S.A. in one World-Space and it's a Waste of Time to try it.

So, I think of another way and ask myself, if the Travel System of Fallout 2 doesn't break Immersion, why it should in Fallout 3? If you just zoom out enough, wouldn't be the entire Capital Wasteland just a Map Symbol like the Cities in Fallout 2? And what's between these Map Regions? An endless Wasteland I guess or whatever you like to add there.

Description:

Yah, but what this Mod actually does? It adds the entire World map of America, from the very north to the south end and an additional Map of the entire World. To discover the American Continent you can find an aged highwayman at the gas station in Springvale for your free use. It has a Trunk for your Stuff also. If you like to discover Islands, locations at the coast or places far away from the American continent, you have to travel to a Seaport at the East coast, where you can find a Boat for travel.
To point it, the purpose of this mod is to give Mod-Creators an immersive and easy way to create every mod and content they can imagine without bother about how to connect them with the original world or to conflict with other content. They not even have to touch or open one of the original cells. A Mod that is optimized to GTS can be reached by every Player, who has GTS installed.
I made it as easy as it was possible for a Mod-Creator to make his own Mod run with GTS without issues. So, no matter if you want connect an already finished mod or plan to make a Mod with GTS, it should not take much longer than maybe 5-10 min in G.E.C.K. and 4 simple work-steps.

For Players there is not much in this Base-Mod yet, because the Content has to be created by the Community. The Base-Mod has 3 new Locations. Once outside the Capital Wasteland, open the World-map to reach them.

Mod Conflicts:

There aren't any conflicts with another Mod, nor will there ever be, but it doesn't work with a No-fast-travel-Mod, because it uses Map-Markers. So, as long as Map-Markers disabled, you can't reach the Locations. That means it only conflicts, if a Mod permanently disables Fast-travel.

I also can't recommend for use it with a No-Border-Mod, because it does break purpose and immersion of my Mod.

Known Issues:

There is a Game-Bug if you save and close your Fallout-Game outside the Capital Wasteland. When you next time reload your Savegame the Wasteland-Map show up instead of the new Maps. But everything still works fine. Just travel to a location once and the correct Map shows up again. This only happens if you reload a Savegame after you open up the Fallout-Game.

Planed Extensions:

- If many people will use and like this mod, maybe I will add detail-maps of the other continents some day.
- I would like to play a Car-Sound, when change your location, but not yet figured it out.
- There is no distance calculation between the locations. I will add this as soon as I know how to do.
