|
|
I first got IanOut quite a while ago, but never really did anything with it, and started checking it out again recently (BTW the whole idea, and hopefully execution later, for IanOut is amazing! many possibilities have already arisen in my head!)
anyways, I fired it up, running at the standard setup, and was surprised to see how slow the game ran for me ! after getting into game, the whole thing ran at between 20 and 30 FPS, so i was like "WTF!? its a friggin *2D* game, it shud run in the 100s of FPS "
damned DooM3 runs better than IanOut!
System specs:
Pentium 4 1.5GHz
768 MB DDR RAM
ATi Radeon 9800 Pro 128 meg video card
IanOut Beta 4
Hopefully the problem is in the coding for the game, and will not be like this in the next beta, or when the game finally comes out, im also wondering if its mostly CPU or video card dependant? thnx. _________________ "F*ck you and everyone that looks like you!" - Comment to Navaro base guard. |

| CPU is the big thing in any* 2d game. some games do use openGL to draw in 2d and this can speed thngs up on newer hardware but not by a hell of alot. Im sure things will improve but this game is very script based and that can slow things down alot(shouldnt be that bad though). |

I don't know... I can make an FPS around 20-30 under a P233MMX too... so I think there is something wrong with the videocard driver... under such machine the game should run at full speed... _________________

under a P233 it works under 9-15FPS... are you using IO under 16 or 32 bit? what ATI driver are you using?(I've herard that there are speed issues with OpenGL+SDL under newer ATI drivers...) _________________
