Granted. But then again this is Black Isles/Obsidian we are talking about, I would be dissapointed if the best writers in the industry (imo) ere to fall for such cliches.
...Yeah I guess. There's not much character development IIRC, but they do influence the story somewhat.
Planescape was covered.
Ooooh boy. That one is really hard to say. Some think it's gender-equal. Some say it portrays men as assholes. Some say it portrays women as either overprotective bitches or dreamy, slightly idiotic minxes. The box art and slightly exagerated character design does not help.
The only human female in the series being mute? That's like saying Gordon Freeman is an original, strong, believable character. Except we know nothing of him save that he can kill armies by himself.
So yeah, off the list I can grant 1, maybe 3 if we strech it. You could add various Bioware games to it, I assume. And I could name 5 too. they are not SO rare. But the fact remains they are largely the exception rather than the rule, or at least the standard.

Catherine is pretty much "hey nerds, with women you have two choices. super uptight (scuse my french) bitch or insane idiot.
Portal has no character. She never speaks and could be replaced with a pile of animate kindles and it would be the exact same.
Oh, and lay off with insulting people in every thread you post in. It makes you come off as a person with anger issues

What does big boobs have to do with charatcerization? a woman with big boobs inmediately has no character? that's mostly the artist rather than the writter.

What does that have to do with characterization at all? and Maya is not a little girl, and Franziska isn't protrayed as sexy rather than assholish at first.
On Catherine

" there aare two characters like that, and for me the best ending is the True Neutral one, a hint you choose neither, and there are other female characters like Erica who despite being kind of flirty (wich is mostly to mess up with the guys heads, spoiler) she is a pretty smart person emotionaly, and Anna who is a pretty realistic character, Catherine herself ACTS like an idiotic Minx for a reason, play the game if you haven't already.

I finish playing Alice: Madness Returns the other day, I liked the game.
I liked more McGee's vision than the gameplay, wich is somewhat repetitive, but the art and story are superb.
Does she count?

Good female characters eh, cant remember too many from games its true, i liked alyx vance from hl2 and boss from mgs3.
And kinda intresting article on female armors, didnt think about the "boob plates direct the hit to heart" thing before. |
