By way of twitter, InXile's Brian Fargo shares a piece from the Wasteland project the company was working on a few years back, when Fallout artist Jason D. Anderson was with the company.

I don't even understand what that thing in the left bottom corner is. I sincerely hope that it's not something like Fallout-esque 50s technology, I really want to play a more of an 80s/90s apocalypse (with the respective music, of course).
Also, damn, Van Buren. Naughty Mr Caen. |

The display and the buttons don't look retro-futuristic to me at all.. well okay, maybe now that we're in 2012 that stuff could be considered retro-futuristic, but there's still plenty of similar tech available. Looks like something that could have been conceived/built in the 80s/90s. _________________ Patrolling the Mojave almost makes you wish for a nuclear winter.

| Why does the radio have sharp looking pieces but the tape is all blurred? It's like someone's photoshopped googled images together. |

Uh, maybe that's because Wasteland was never supposed to be retrofuturistic? _________________

Uhm, I was replying to Sub-human who was talking about 50s-esque techonology. _________________ Patrolling the Mojave almost makes you wish for a nuclear winter.

Apparently taping batteries to an old cellphone makes it work.
Who knew. _________________

It wasn't originally, but I think it would make sense for it to become retrofuturistic now, but with 1980s/1990s retro style instead of 1950s like in Fallout. This is the only way the original Wasteland backstory could remain canon. _________________ The Vault - Fallout Wiki *Wasteland 2 Wiki * Torment and Numenera Wiki |

"Retro-futuristic" 1980/1990's would be pretty awesome, now that I think about it. _________________

I always imagined Wasteland like that, even before I played it - when I read about it for the first time.
It would be great if the sequel is done like that. _________________

I like the concept art. What is it called? Tech-Punk? Tech-Junk-Punk? Reminds me of that computer nerd/god you visit in The Mysterious Journey. _________________ Soldats! Faites votre devoir! Droit au cœur mais épargnez le visage. Feu! |

And catering to a target demographic, as dreadful as it sounds out of context ;) _________________

I just classed it as Industrial 80's or 90's, the punk monicker gets thrown around way to much.
A Mad Max/80's Action Movie vibe would be totally awesome. _________________ I shall use the pointy sticks of SCIENCE!

Exactly, that should be the way to go. |

I think the best intro song would be Queen's Hammer to Fall. Although them having the money to license a Queen song is rather unlikely.

For we who grew up tall and proud
In the shadow of the mushroom cloud
Convinced our voices can't be heard
We just wanna scream it louder and louder and louder
What the hell are we fighting for
Just surrender and it won't hurt at all
