So I've finally finished it, the ending wasn't as bad as I was expecting given the hype but it was still very dumb, especially the Catalyst.
Click here to see the hidden message (It might contain spoilers)

What I really can't understand is the high scores this game got from professional reviewers. Some made an excuse about not fully playing the game or only playing one ending and not realizing how bad it was. But the rest of the game is just as bad, the Reapers are finally here and we spend most of the game fighting amongst ourselves. Gathering resources, building the crucible, gaining allies that should of been the plot of ME2 not the Collectors. The side quests were bloody awful, one step above magically knowing who everything belonged to in Dragon Age 2. If we apply the KotOR model to the entire series and not just each game ME3 should of been just about the war, the final battle with the big bad, not system scanning.

Then there's this one boss fight, end of ME2 all over again, though this time without cover or allies, that there was enough to put me off replaying long before I ever reached the ending.

They won't get rid of The Catalyst Kid and three colour cupcakes so even a awesome epilogue scene will be ruined by that.

Well, think of this way people, at least you don't need to bother to spend money on DLC to see if it will worth or add something in the game... Rolling Eyes

At least the firsts ones were good, what a shame end a trilogy this way.
So long Bioware/EA...

Well, being free is already something. We knew they would not really change them endings for some time. Now we only need to know if it will end up softening the blow a little ('cause nothing short of a full rewrite will satisfy me in any way) or just being a smokescreen. I don't see how an epilogue will help the absolutely senseless Normandy crash scene, or the incredibly unfortunate implications Synthesis holds.

I'm disappointed because the smokescreen scenario is screaming too loud. Even if they change the mass relays and Normandy fate, as well providing explanations for the subsequent fate of other races, the whole segment of "Priority: Earth" basically don't make sense and is dumb as hell.

For example, why my war assets impact on my final game decision and not in the London battle?
Or the best one, why the Citadel was moved to Earth?

I was replaying the game today, since my brother gave me the digital N7 version as a gift, and noted one thing: you only have two discussions in the entire game about the plot change of stopping the Reapers and the reason they repeat a pattern of annihilation into synthetics x organics scenario.
One is in Rannoch and don't provide any clues except the whole garbage of chaos x order (the same the child-god uses, BTW).
The second is more detailed and gives more insight into the subject, throwing some light on it and also providing little hints of why a synthetic scenario exists, but lacks explanation why is feasable.

The only problem is this conversation is with...Javik! Yes, the discussion that could bring some explanation of why you have a synthetic choice in the end are in a paid "day one" DLC!!! Shocked

And the media and some gamers still wonder why the game is taking so much heat. Rolling Eyes

and guess what will happen? People will still buy the next Bioware game like hotcakes.

It has always been that way. It will always be that way. its not like people don't bitch about CoD or what ever for example.

Yet. If the bitching would really follow any "real" resolution. Do you think they would be still making new CoD games?

Anyway. Expect the same tantrum when Dragon Age 3 is made or what ever "new" game they come up with. Bioware if you ask me is on a heavy decline here. Even for their standards which drooped heavily after Baldurs Gate was released.

Don't be so sure. Dragon Age II had very dissapointing sales for a AAA Bioware title (the majority from pre-orders, as I understand it) and there are reports of ME3 not selling as much as expected (still doing great, unlike DA2), and facing an unusual amount of returns. Amazon.com in perticular has lowered its price several time, and IIRC even stopped selling the game due to false advertisement (the promises about the story and ending).

Cutting him was a fucking low blow. He is far more important, or at least related to to the plot than any other squadmate save Liara and the Virmire Survivor. He's a great, useful charcter, who provides very valuable insight, and as you said offers the only real discussion about the ending's implications (and even then, his account is mighty biased so I take it with a grain of salt), yet he's been literaly cut from the game at the last minute, most of his dialogs are on the disc, you can even unlock him for play no problem ffs. Between this, the ending and the face import bug (thankfully I modified my faces in ME2, but it still sucks) BiowEAre has a lot of amends to make.

http://consumerist.com/2012/04/congratulations-ea-you-are-the-worst-company-in-america-for-2012.html

EA was voted to be the worst company in the good old United States. EA's response? They are victims of homophobic attacks on their company because of Mass Effect 3's same-sex relationships. No fucking joke. Not because of Origin being a piece of file-scanning shit, their games being mediocre attempts to obtain the dumbest type of video gamers, or their tendency to buy competitors and rape their games to death, but because of those dastardly homophobes. Denial is a bitch, huh?

They just brought it up after they received their "award". Couple other sites like Kotaku and Destructoid have similar articles. Bullshit attempts to garner public sympathy after being acknowledged as one of the worst companies in the world, basically.

And? I don't think EA cares about the Consumerist any more then the console makers care about vgchartz. Anyway 100% of people and companies try to highlight their good areas when subject to criticism.

And now we actually get free multiplayer DLC. From EA. What has the world come to?

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BasebmHiqIo

Looks pretty great. 6 new character (Krogan Vanguards, Geth Infiltrators hell yes), 2 new maps and a handful of new weapons. Wish we get new enemies soon, they are getting a bit stale to kill. But it's still very fun and can only get better.

This type of thing let me really down.

I mean, other "great" games that had fun MP but poor SP experiences were C&C Renegade and Hellgate: London.

So that's what ME has turned into... Sad

Heh. It seems like a typical PR deflection move, indeed.

To be honest, they should consider stopping with all their love intrest bullshit in the first place. It's pretty damn apparent that all their relationship-crap is written by someone who I'm willing to bet is both a) female, and b) pretty damn inexperienced in relationships / human contact; and IT SHOWS. Also, the fact that everyon is always flinging themselves at the PC become pretty damn silly after a while. I've ended up in 'relationships' just because I tried to be nice once too often in their games now.

When did it become such a cardinal sin to admit to making a mistake? Even releasing an "extended cut" DLC to "clarify" the endings, Bioware has to make sure point how proud they are of ME3 and how they stand by the "artistic vision" that produced the "endings". Yeah, whatever.

And LOL @ EA for defending itself with the "attack of the homophobes" defense. That's just so sad it's hilarious.

Here's a panel about Mass Effect. Talking about choices on Tuchanka, and how in big situations it's best to focus on characters. Indirectly talking down their own work in the ending.

Also, here's a fan made(Bear with me) ending epilogue generator that was much better than I expected and it's not about blue babies or anything:

Crack addiction is hard to kick...and Biowares junk is the sweetest of them all. Only after years of struggle will the addict pull themselves out from the mess. Razz

Now could someone please provide a short explanation of what was all the fuss about.

I avoided everything that had "mass" and "effect" words in it.
