The Saints will do fine this year. I might even take Brees early in the draft as my QB.
And I'll still win the title for a third time. _________________ "I shoot my gun at the moon like a primitive hick!" ~ dammitism

| They're still good for 10 wins, but the Payton loss stings. His game calling alone is worth 1-2 wins. I don't think the Vilma loss will be that bad, but bummer for him. One of my favorite LBs since he came out of the U, even liked him as a Jet. NFL needs to be more transparent, because that seems way too harsh without knowing the dirt they've got on him. I hope Vilma makes a stink, the NFL is way too sanctified these days, they need a Jose Canseco type, who, despite being an immense scumbag, occasionally cut through all the PR and CYA-ish-ness to the essence of what is really going on. |

They better get the damned Brees contract taken care of already. He gets more leverage every day. I don't understand why there would be any hesitation in the first place.
I'll be interested to see how Nick Toon fares. I'd compare his upside potential to James Jones from the Packers -- a big, strong receiver with good hands but occasional infuriating problems with drops. Not that fast but fast enough. A solid 2 or very good 3.
He was injury-prone at the UW, though. |

Just love where they're going to take this with the lawsuit and where it ends. When your commissioner is this high-profile, shit just ain't right.
I don't get what Junior Seau has to do with this either, except that he's universally loved. Nobody gave a shit when a repugnant cheap shot artist like Andre Waters killed himself - not good enough of a poster boy to push the agenda to the safety obsessed bougies. So let's ignore personal responsibility, cover our asses and all lawyer up, cause everyone needs to carve out their piece of the pie.
Shit, we wouldn't want the people who watch the NFL for the commercials to be made uncomfortable. |

It's a negotiation. I doubt there's any hesitation on either side. They both likely want to get a deal done. It's just that it's a negotiation, and the two sides aren't close enough. Whether that's the Saints' fault or Brees' fault is impossible to say from the outside.

What do these two things have to do with each other?
Also, the NFL is certainly culpable to an extent. They said for years that concussions were nothing to worry about, and you could just re-enter the game immediately. _________________ No Mutants Allowed, your Fallout resource - Fallout 3 modding

I don't think they're culpable at all. Football is dangerous and everyone knows it. That's why the players make hundreds of thousands or millions of dollars. It's no different from any other high-risk profession.
The NFL has lots of money. That makes them a target for ambulance chasing lawyers.
If the NFL is guilty of anything it's guilty of not telling Jim McMahon he had to quit football before the start of the 1985 season. |

They make millions of dollars because lots of people watch it and only a few can do it. This is not hazard pay.
That said, the NFL can't be held culpable for injuries that everyone knows are a part of the NFL. But, they are culpable for offering inadequate medical treatment, or putting players at risk unnecessarily without their consent or while withholding certain relevant information. The NFL maintained as recently as 2006 (IIRC) that continuing to play with a concussion presented no extra risk. Whether or not they could have known is up for debate, but if they did know that this was not true, they are absolutely culpable. _________________ No Mutants Allowed, your Fallout resource - Fallout 3 modding

Gronk locked up until 2019 - it's almost not fair.
Glad to see Mr. Patriot himself get into their HOF. Bingo! |

Little unexpected. I can't remember the Pats extending someone with only two years under his belt, before?
But good move, yeah. |

Sure. I didn't really enjoy it last season, though I did really well in one league (until the finals). I've found myself lacking the interest to do pre-draft research or a lot of research and thinking during the season. So it's time for a break.
Besides, I've never watched a football season without playing fantasy. It's about time I do. |

Post FF NFL is like something out of Idiocracy with the ubiquitous crawls, the commercialism etc. The worst part is the experts who don't know squat about anything but individual players, it's bizzaro. Overemphasis of loser stat whores over defense and team players, just stoopit.
It's not even football, or a simulation of it, or anything approximating how a team is assembled or managed. It's this weird geeky parasite that gives the illusion of...I don't know what, interactivity for Generation ADD.
Is there anything worse than players actually acknowledging how their performance translated into FF? WTF is that? |

that's exactly what I said.
before they recruited me into their fantasy league a few years ago.
ps
what I always thought would be cool is if a player on a winning team got, like, a 10% bump in his stats, or something like that.
or the reverse for a loser.

yeah, I blew off the football 'til a couple days before the draft, last year, and just tried to cram. _________________

| Sure, if enough people want to play, I'll just renew the league and hand commishionership to Sander. I'm not taking part, tho, I really need a break from fantasy football. |

Sander as commish might be a deal breaker, although I did enjoy beating him last year... _________________ "I shoot my gun at the moon like a primitive hick!" ~ dammitism

You need a "best ball" league. You'll never have to set a lineup again. |
