Shelter: (a CRPG which is NOT A MOD of Fallout: Tactics)

"Wait", you must say. "By Gods of Kobol, what is this Shelter thing ?".
So, a quick refresher -
The engine:
Shelter IS NOT A MOD OF FALLOUT: TACTICS. It was written from scratch in Visual C.
Shelter is an isometric sprite-based CRPG. Right now it loads graphics from Fallout: Tactics until our artists generate our own. The base graphics size is 28% bigger than Fallout Tactics, and optimal resolution has been bumped to 1024*Y (and higher).
At this time, the game runs on Windows only.
The philosophy:
Shelter is influenced by a number of key concepts from Fallout (1).
The setting:
Many decades after the first Earth colony has been established on Osiris-5, you are sent there to install a Warp Gate, which will enable people from Earth to migrate to the planet and/or exchange resources.
Your ship crashes. You lose your crew and the Warp Gate is scavenged. You discover that the colonists split into three major factions, two of which established a shaky peace accord.
You, of course, are about to fuck all that up.
The combat:
It is PwRT. Unlike RTwP combat where you freeze the world at will, with PwRT the world is frozen UNLESS you perform an action or move. This takes flinch response out of the equation.
The combat has firearms, melee weapons, and a basic throw system that is still being developed. Right now you have inertia which, properly utilized, allows you to knock people unconscious by slamming into them. It also reduces your chance of being hit with firearms.
The dialogue:
Dialogue is heavily riddled with stat checks. More on that will be in the future updates. We're avoiding this type of dialogue: "Ah, a chance to use my freshly sharpened blade !"
The weather:
... is an important factor on Osiris-5. In extreme cases, it toggles between-map encounters. More on that will be in future updates. _________________ "Shelter" will be back after these messages. |

Though I am currently working on finishing Monsterland, I am also acquiring original graphics for Shelter in background.
But not going to post any Shelter news until I can demonstrate its independence from Tactics assets. |

Shelter does seem very interesting, sounds fun. I just hope that it's controls, actions and such aren't similar to Awaken.
Awaken was a horrifying experience to me and I hope when Shelter is released in a playable state, that's it's user-friendly. |

Is ths a standalone game, or would I have to own tactics in order to run it? I'm interested in this game, but not so much in getting Tactics, if it would be required to run the game. _________________ Zaius: You the new guy in town?

Good looking screenshot you have.
So how many people are working on this game? What kind of visual and audio assets will you have?
Also are you in need of anyone to help with the dialogue or story/sidequests, or are you already done with those portions of the game?
One last thing, if you need someone to help with voice acting any characters or NPCs I could help you out there, especially for wacky or interesting sounding characters, similar to Myron of Fallout 2. _________________ "How many fanboys does it take to screw in a lightbulb?
