A fun little mod project emerged from an idea of Mr.Wolna to modify a Golden Desert Eagle gun into the game. What started as a simple weapon mod ended up in turning Lil' Jesus Mordino to a Gizmo-esque static NPC. While still in early stages, I just had to post these nifty new FRMs:

Hey man, don't you know Fallout 1 would have had Golden Desert Eagles, only technical constraints of the time didn't allow it?! |

The bottles are intact on the last frame... Looks nice otherwise.
EDIT: Read the other thread. I understand the third picture is death by burst and the last is by headshot...? _________________

It's flashing gore fest, cool.
I always found more joy killing things in 2D games instead of 3D expect those that had gibs, like soldier of fortune.
But death animations are the best, try out alien shooter 2 vengeance for ex. |

Have you ever fired one?
Well, I haven't either.
But my section commander on my Gunner course had - and he said it was the longest fifty rounds of his life.
.50 cal rounds are for penetrating light-armoured vehicles - it's even against the Geneva Convention to use them as antipersonnel. If one passes within six inches of you the shockwave alone will be enough to cripple you, or worse.
But the rounds used in the Desert Eagle .50 Cal Special don't have as much powder as the ones used for machine guns; they're unable to penetrate armour. So what you're left with is an anti-personnel pistol that's too big for most hands, weighs a ton, and has a vicious recoil. It's a ridiculous weapon; just get a 9mm with fragmenting rounds.
That's one sweet mod, though - nice work! |

do note that Desert Eagles come in .357Mag, .41AE/.44Mag and .50AE.
the lower calibres aint all that bad.
and euhm, dude.... i hope you're fucking trolling.

bullshit. it's an urban legend dating back to the time when .50 cals were mounted on APCs and halftracks for anti-air purposes. of course, it didn't take the troops long to figure out they were awesome to use on enemy soldiers hiding in buildings. which then in turn meant there was no ammo left for shooting planes...
so the brass came up with a story that you couldn't use it on infantry, which is of course utter bullocks. besides, if it was really in a convention, it would've been the Hague convention, not Geneva.

and drawing a katana creates a vacuum that cuts through tanks, right?
troll.

mkay, first off, it's .50 Action Express. not .50 cal Special. AE is a Magnum-type cartridge not a Special.
secondly, .50 AE has NOTHING to do with .50 cal BMG (Browning Machine Gun) which are used for penetrating light APCs and whatnot.
.50 AE:
weight: 325 gr (21.1 g) Ball
speed: 1,305 ft/s (398 m/s)
energy: 1,229 ft·lbf (1,666 J)
.50 cal BMG (average):
weight: 700 gr (45 g)
speed: 2,978 ft/s (908 m/s)
energy: 13,971 ft·lbf (18,942 J)
(gr stands for grains, g stands for grams)
anyhow, you're comparing a handgun with a tiny bullet compared to the MG... hell, comparing 1,666 Joules with 18,942 Joules...
you'll also note that in the pictures, the leftmost bullets are .50 AE in one and .50BMG in the other. for reference, the rightmost bullets are .22LR in both pictures.
anyone with EYES can see that they have nothing to do with eachother.

anti-personnel? wow, watching too much hollywood movies?
a Desert Eagle is originally intended as a target pistol. sure, you can shoot people with it, but it's not very practical, ye know. _________________ Per is the bestest lizard. And Wooz makes the bestest hogs.

Desert Eagle .50BMG Anti-Personnel Special Edition, haven't you heard of it? Was released back in the nineties, but no one ever really used because, you know, it was a bit dangerous to shoot...
Anyway, is that 7.62 M42? I'm not sure about the number...

his comment wasn't about how guns are portrayed in the game, BN...
not to mention he's even throwing in advice on what people should use, while he knows jack shit about what he's talking. _________________ Per is the bestest lizard. And Wooz makes the bestest hogs.
