The Russian online RPG, Krai Mira has just released an online demo. In the words of the devs:
Krai Mira is an online role-playing game that immerses the player in a world devastated by global disaster. In this world, everyone can get his own way, communicate with other players, take part in fights, gather resources and items, hunt, explore new islands, trade, and more!

The game is based on a 2D isometric engine, tiled landscapes and bitmap objects rendered from 3D scenes. Navigation is performed with a mouse. Many actions have custom hot keys.

General graphic style - cruel realism and harmonious colors suit the setting and emphasize an atmosphere of a post-apocalyptic world. Short and expressive animations accompanied by charming music.
You can download the client here.

Thanks for the news go to our friendly NMA ostrich, Piotr Koczewski.

I played it a bit before. Nice visual style, but quite crappy interface and gameplay. Music is not "charming" in any way.

The scapes are prerendered and only the moving object is PC. You don't even see any other players or enemies. The enemies appear in the list of other players and you have to understand it somehow.

I don't know if they changed it somehow, but, while i found the game really visaully appealing, it appeared to be really boring and nonintuitive.

Also, it did not support playing via proxy.

It looks pretty interesting. I love 2D games with highquality images.

The graphics look ultracool, but if you can't see the enemies, then it's ultragay.

Okay. Played a little more...some feedback:

The Quest givers don't seem very obvious, also this "I have some questions" as last dialogue option doesnt instinctly seem to be related to the quest. I "discovered" this option in the very end, after I left the NPC several times before as everythig else seemed to be meaningless. All in all the dialogues are a little boring and unstructured.

I think you should gain more XP in the beginning, or should need much less for the very first levels to gain early motivation by leveling. 2000 XP seems to be icredible much when you just get 30 or so from the first mobs. Quests give a lot more though, but these arent obvious in the beginning.

The Game is presented as MMO game, but it seems rather a single player experience when you always run aroung alone. For the combat it is fine to me if you switch to a seperate instance. But I think you should see (a limited number of?) other players at least when just running around.

The graphics and animations look nice. Of course this isn't a up to date 3D game. But it didn't feel like it's outdated. Therefore it's just fine.

The zones itself seem rather boring. Though the design is nice, you don't feel like you discover something as most zones just consist of a static background graphic and some "walls". Should be something more to interact with.

The Worldmap seems to be zoomed out to max. I can hardly see anything on it. There should be a possibility to zoom in a bit.

Regeneration of your stats seem too low. Or the whole concept is bad. Just wait for minutes to regain stamina and energy seems boring. Of course also the Skill "explore" is dependent on it. Might be overpowered otherwise, but this just seems wrong.

AI and Pathfinding seem to be good.

Rolling Eyes Evil or Very Mad That's a bit of a non-comment. The graphics look awesome, the fact it is not 3D does not make it out of date.

Seriosly? Great graphics???

Yeah the high quality 2D isometric stuff is great, I can't deny that. But why the hell is all the clothes so clean?! Everything in the world looks rusty, dirty and worn out but all the clothes looks like they are straight out of a clothing shop, as if it has been a post apocalyptic world for like 7 minutes

Not to be an ass, but "not seeing other people in a MMOG" is akin to releasing an Arkanoid demo without the bricks.
