I have no idea what to think about it, but I'm leaning toward Fury Road being crap. Tom Hardy is a great actor, I just can't picture him as Max. Does George Miller have what it takes to revive the character after nearly ruining it with Beyond Thunderdome? He hasn't made a good movie in years. It's the same deal with Ridley Scott. Literally my whole life I wished he would return to the franchise. Then when he finally does he blows it big time with the godawful Prometheus. Is George Miller another has-been?
The vehicles look too "extreme". However, I'm sure if we had the internet and message boards during Road Warrior's production people would scrutinize all those weird vehicles nobody saw before. Everything depends on how they are filmed. I'm still dying to see what Tom Hardy looks like in costume.
Now factor in the 10 years of development hell Fury Road has gone through. Everything you can imagine that can go wrong did and then some. They finally started filming this thing last month. I firmly believe they're cursed. I wouldn't be the least bit surprised if there are multiple deaths on set. |

This was just posted on moviehole:
| Quote: |
Congrats to the divinely talented and stunningly beautiful Megan Gale, the Aussie supermodel cum actress who turned heads with her amusing turn in Pete Helliar’s “I Love You Too” a couple of years back, who has been cast in George Miller’s long-awaited revhead blockbuster “Mad Max Fury Road”.
It’s a real win for Gale, considering she missed out on getting to work with Miller on the big-budget superhero flick “Justice League” a couple of years back. The heart-pausing bombshell has been itching for another big-time jaunt in celluloid-land for quite some time – invisible jet or no invisible jet. That “Justice League” movie, in which Gale was set to play lassoing Wonder Woman, was cancelled at the eleventh hour. Another of that film’s attached actors, Hugh Keays-Byrne (‘Martian Manhunter’) is also in “Fury Road”.
Charlize Theron and Tom Hardy headline “Mad Max Fury Road”, which began principal photography on July 9. The reboot of the ‘Mad Max’ franchise also stars bodybuilder Nathan Jones (“Troy”) as Rictus Erecetus, Nicholas Hoult from “X-Men : First Class” as Nux, Keays-Byrne (“Mad Max”) as Immortan Joe, and Zoe Kravitz, Riley Keough, and Rosie Huntington-Whiteley as ‘the wives’.
Also onboard are Supermodel Abbey Lee Kershaw, playing The Dag’; Courtney Eaton has been cast as Fragile; Josh Helman (TV’s “The Pacific”, “Jack Reacher”) is Silt; Jennifer Hagan (“The Night We Called It A Day”) is Miss Giddy; and musician iOTA (is a Top 40-ready theme song on the cards!?) is Coma-Doof Warrior.
A number of Aussie actors, aside from the aforementioned Ms Gale, are also in the film, they include “All Saints” alum John Howard, Angus Sampson (“Insidious”), Gillian Jones (TV’s “Packed to the Rafters”), Richard Carter (“Happy Feet”, “Hating Alison Ashley”), Joy Smithers (TV’s “Home & Away”), Melissa Jaffer (“Farscape”) and Melita Jurisic (TV’s “Something in the Air”).
Aussie showbiz legend Bert Newton was also originally attached to play a role, but dropped out due to the shift in filming locale to Namibia.
“Mad Max Fury Road” sees Mad Max (Hardy) caught up with a group of people fleeing across the Wasteland in a War Rig driven by the imperator Furiosa (Theron). A battle erupts on the road in front of them over the course of the film as they attempt to push the rig to safer terrain. |
In case anybody doesn't remember, Hugh Keays-Byrne played Toecutter in the original Mad Max. The plot summary at the end lines up with leaked script info over the years. Supposedly Fury Road is one long chase scene interspersed with flashbacks to Max's younger life. All of this can be completely wrong. One of the early leaked summaries for the 2003 version of Fury Road had the movie focused on his adult son with several flashbacks leading to the revelation of Max's death. That was back when Mel Gibson was still involved. |

I'm sure it will be as fun as we let it be, or as crappy as we make it out to be.
I don't think this will be a movie anyone needs to over-analyze. Just sayin'...

Looking at all these pics if this movie is considered a piece of crap it would still probably be somewhat enjoyable. I think it will be good though, the worst that could happen is we could get a realistic Transformers film. I probably will like it no matter what. _________________ "'Tis better to be alone, then of bad company."

This is always the best course of action, since I'm always right.
Some movies are just light escapism and should be enjoyed as such. _________________ "I shoot my gun at the moon like a primitive hick!" ~ dammitism

Bringing back Toecutter? I really like those pics. Hell, I liked Thunderdome despite some of it's nonsense, so I will give this one a shot. I do wish Mel Gibson had a part in it though.
DB is right too. Must be nice to always be right ... _________________

It's not Toecutter. They just brought back the same actor for a totally different character. George Miller did the same thing with the actor Bruce Spence as the Gyro Captain in Road Warrior and Jedediah in Beyond Thunderdome. Although, in that case it caused some confusion because they were similar roles. |

I must say, I'm very sceptical. It will take more than costumes and props...
And tbh, the trucks are a bit overdone imo. Not too overdone.. but a bit. This movie will probably fall down to my "watch on tv or dvd later on"-list. _________________ "That's your excuse for everything, isn't it - being dead." |

What I've seen of the vehicles so far, is that they're suffering from the standard Hollywood sequelitis. Everything has to be bigger, faster, louder, and MOAR!
As far as character stuff goes, meh. Same issue.
I hope to be pleasantly surprized, but I sure as hell won't be holding my breath. _________________ Per is the bestest lizard. And Wooz makes the bestest hogs.

I was excited up until I saw Mel wasn't playing Max. Why don't they just get him to do it? It will not be the same without him playing Mad Max. So now I'm turned off... _________________ Zaius: You the new guy in town?
