Definitely going for a semi-speedrun at my secod run: get the APA, then back to Arroyo to beat the whole game a bit safer.

I'm going to be playing with normal difficulty and combat difficulty. When I started the Fallout iron man challenge, I was pretty confident I'd make it (was wrong, but only just). I'm not at all confident about this.

I was thinking about making a dash for the Navarro power armour, however the chances of surviving the journey are slim to say the least.

In the first game, mutant patrols are the only real threat on the world map. In Fallout 2, you've got Enclave patrols (which as people have said are horrible), super mutant remnants (tougher mutants, often one is armed with a rocket launcher), fire gecko (fast, horrible flame attack which they can do twice per turn), heavily armed press gangs around sf, deathclaw packs, aliens, floaters, centaurs (these three are only nasty for hth characters really); robbers, gangsters, highwaymen etc. Also pissed off Morton brothers with machine guns.

In other words, fuck!

I'm not too worried about Horrigan though. Should I get that far, I'm going to be on tip toes throughout (as clearing the oil rig and fighting horrigan without dieing would be very, very hard). Counter insurgency and Granite all the way!

As a total outsider, what is "the good" and "the bad" that comes from using the Restoration Project ?
Would you advise to use it ?

I want to discover the new content, but I must be sure it's good and not a dumb move for an iron man run.

Well talking openly about skill % requirements can be both tedious and "spoily" (if this word exists Razz)

I think the spoiler tags are unnecessary honestly. I am wondering what route to take with this Iron Man Run. I have never attempted such a feat before.

Can't Horrigan be beaten with a speech check or some shit like that? I forget it's been awhile...

Good luck there...the man wants to crush your mutie balls. The best play is to get the presidental key. At least Frank wont target you straight away. I think the RP version is bugged when it comes to Frank, in my recent test I couldn't even touch him with 160+ big gun skill and the bozar. Confused

I think a really high outdoor skill might help with the iron-man challenge, at least you can pick and choose your random encounters.

Anyone thinking of becoming a child killer?

Man I am playing with the Restoration patch. How the fuck can I beat Horrigan if that is the case?

Oh and yes I usually am a child killer. No one steal from me and lives.

The turrets and Sgt Granite should be able do the job.

The good thing about being a child killer is at high levels (19+) the bounty hunters will carry gauss rifles, so if you can kill them before they kill you it's a great way of collecting gauss ammo. The bad thing is, there are about 5 of them in any one encounter, and they have 150 small gun skill. Neutral

I'm going to try the Unlimited Party Members Mod. The more targets for the enemy the better IMO, and it will make some spectacular battles. The NPCs at level 6 are pretty impressive, if they survive that long.

yoshi, hah you reminded me. i always activate counter insurgency as soon as i grab the presidential card so i wont forget later.
thats why battle begins as soon as i enter the area, preventing me from conversing with anybody.

thats why - the only time i entered the area calmly, and able to talk to his guards, was the only time i had also avoided using the counter insurgency untill i had managed to try the speech check thing out first.

TorontRayne, about the Den kids, i found out a way to make them stop bothering you: punch them once.
i do this quite often, nobody comes to their aid, they flee, and once theyre away from you you can deactivate combat.
next time you come near them, they run for their lives even without initiating combat. theyll never steal from you again, and you got no karma penalty cus you didnt kill them - you just slapped them around a bit! Very Happy
