|
|
Hell, i'd like some help regarding the value of my PC, I intend to sell it and would appreciate some advice on it's value.
http://www.dell.com/us/p/alienware-aurora-r4/pd.aspx?~ck=mn
This is the base model. However the DXDiag is as follows:
Windows 7 64-bit premium
Processor: Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-2600 CPU @ 3.40GHz (8 CPUs), ~3.4GHz
Memory: 8192MB RAM
Available OS Memory: 8174MB RAM
DirectX Version: DirectX 11
Card name: AMD Radeon HD 6800 Series
Manufacturer: Advanced Micro Devices, Inc.
Chip type: ATI display adapter (0x6738)
Description: Speakers (Realtek High Definition Audio)
Default Sound Playback: Yes
Default Voice Playback: Yes
I believe this is all the relevant information, if anything else is needed i'll copy the entire document here. I should also note it will be sold with a monitor, Logitech gaming mouse and keyboard as well as speakers. The PC also has some side functions like the ability to change neon colors and what have you on the computer itself. Not sure if that's relevant but whatever. It's about 1 year old.
Thanks if you're able to help. |

Dell's lose value fast, especially the Gaming rigs. If your doing a private sale I would say about 700 MAX and about 500 Lowest, but if we are Talking CEX or Cash Converters I would say roughly they would give you £350.
Just as a comparison I took a Mac Pro 2010 model with 4 1tb drives 32GB Memory and Dual Xeon set up about a month back and CEX offered me £800 but I got £1200 from a guy working in the Crayola office of a marketing company. |

Haha, kind of a downer thread, but as far as I've always been able to tell, selling used PCs is a really, really cash-poor business. Sorry man |

No problem, I'm lucky enough to have never payed for it initially (read: gift) , and sensing the rapid depreciation have decided to sell it. |

| It's a good gift. Sell it some stupid kid saying it's cheaper than buying a new one and that you never used it before yourself... |

That's pretty much my plan :p
I mean it can run any game in existence to my knowledge at a minimum of 30 fps, so it's hardly antiquated.
Crysis 2, witcher 2, Fall of the samurai; they all run on max settings. |

You can't expect to get the full retail price.
From my experience you can make a better profit if you sell components idividually.
Research the value of each component and sell it for 60% if you can.
Btw why wold you sell a rig like that, it's still got plenty of years in it. |

I'm not technical enough to dismantle the PC, and I don't know who I would sell it to, and am not familiar enough with Ebay to start listing several items, although I admit your advice is sound.
I'm currently building up funds to start a business. |

I don't know about dell cases but my case has something like 5 screws in it.
Ebay is not quantum physics.
Good luck with that (i mean the business). |

If you updated the GPU and managed to overclock your CPU to 4.5-4.8 GHz (does the non-K version work?), it'd be top of the line. Perhaps you could advertise it something like that to a guy wanting a cheap PC. Not full price, but at least something.
Remember that usually it's easier (and cheaper) to buy something new than second-hand. Warranties, manuals, not broken... |

Upgrading the pc would be a decent idea. Or sell it for a couple hundred bucks. _________________

200 bucks = 150 british pounds.
I'm fairly sure the value hasn't depreciated by 90% in one year. |

By a couple hundred I meant about $400 to $600. Sorry for the confusion. I should have said a few hundred. Many people won't pay what something is actually worth though. Definitely don't sell it at a Pawn Shop if you want decent cash. If it does have cosmetic features such as lights and whatnot, you may get someone to pay more for it. Ebay is kinda hit or miss on stuff like that (at least in my experience). Just be careful and use delivery confirmation. I got screwed out of $300 by an asshole customer before. That case is really easy to work with, so upgrading is a good option, especially considering how good the rig is to begin with. It wouldn't take much to upgrade... just food for thought. Hope that helps a little better.
Edit: Also, if sold on Ebay your user rating plays a large part in whether you sell something or not, so if you have never used Ebay before, I would probably try something like Craigslist, or something along those lines. Selling to uninformed customers is a good idea too. _________________
