|
|
While inXile continues their work on Wasteland 2, which appears to be progressing nicely, they've started a new Kickstarter to keep the writers and designers who are done with Wasteland 2 employed. And their new pitch may be even more intriguing than the pitch for Wasteland 2: they're making a spiritual successor to Planescape: Torment, set in the post-apocalyptic setting of Numenera.
You can find the Kickstarter for Torment right here.
Why are we covering this? For one, the game is set in a post-apocalyptic setting. Second, Planescape: Torment is one of the most intriguing RPGs we know of, and we know plenty of Fallout fans will be interested in a successor. And third: our own Brother None is working on the game as a line producer, whatever that may be.
Give the Kickstarter a look, and see if you want to help inXile produce their new game. _________________ No Mutants Allowed, your Fallout resource - Fallout 3 modding

I pledged 50 bucks.
Though I haven't deeply played torment, tide system looks interesting and I believe inxile can make great rpg.

I was pretty skeptical at first about this, and would've still preferred if they'd just skipped the whole Torment connection and just said "hey, here's a game that's kinda similar to Torment".
Why does it matter? I don't know, it just feels unncecessary (aside from a PR standpoint of course) and screw you.
Anyways, while the kickstarter video didn't impress me, the write-up/text description is probably the best I've seen so far as far as kickstarter games go. I'll likely put some moeny into it. _________________ Check out my home recordings: http://www.youtube.com/user/Starwars83/videos?flow=grid&view=0 |

already two-thirds of the way there. :p
I would really like a physical tier, but I don't think I can afford it. Probably just do a $20 pledge. Still unemployed. |

If I wasn't in the middle of a god damn apartment renovation that just evaporated all my savings I would back the shit out of this.
But I still have Wasteland 2, Dead State, Shadowrun and Eternity already backed, at least.
Hopefully it turns out great and I will get it on release. Kickstarter seems super successful, hopefully it gets as much as Eternity and Inxile can take their time. |

As someone who has never played Torment and whose favorite game of all time is Fallout (1+2), should I try Torment? I like the creepy looking art in the video.
Edit: The art is actually stunningly beautiful.

Yes. Probably my second favorite game of all time and my favorite is Ultima IV. So I personally think PS:T is a better game than either of the first two Fallout games. |

Planescape: Torment is a pretty different game than the Fallouts to be honest. Torment is a lot more about a focused story, with lots of writing to support it whereas Fallout is more geared towards creating your own story.
But I absolutely think anyone should try out Torment. The main thing you need to be prepared for is to read a lot. It's really not a game to be rushed through. But if you take your time with it and relax your mindset from what the usual gaming fare tends to be, you will find an extremely rich and textured experience. _________________ Check out my home recordings: http://www.youtube.com/user/Starwars83/videos?flow=grid&view=0 |

| I actually like reading good stories. What can I expect from Torment's story/quality/setting/ideas. Will it be just as enjoyable as reading a very good novel (The Wheel of Time comes to mind)? |

Also remember that Torment is pretty unforgiving for noobies.
Don't think "oh, these guys are here at the start of the game, so I should just kill these thugs & take their weapons to be off to a good start". Yeah, that's a trip directly to the morgue if you play with that mentality. _________________ Per is the bestest lizard. And Wooz makes the bestest hogs.

Should definitely stress the "read a lot" part.

| Pledged this morning and even though I expected it to happen I'm still surprised to see how much they raised once I got home this afternoon. Wasteland 2 is shaping up very nicely, they have a great team, and Fargo sounds like a down to Earth humble guy. Congratulations and good luck. |
