Separate names with a comma.
I bought 23 for 40 bucks.
I bought none.
I totally forgot the summer sale was a thing. Even then, it only makes me think of all the games I bought in past sales and have never installed or spent more than a few hours on.
I bought three for 13 or 14 dollars with 5 expansions.
I didn't need to make my backlog longer....
You have plenty of time to play games when not slaving away.
Buy 7 games during summer sale doesn't sounds too bad.
It's a paradox. If you work, you have money to buy games but no time to play them. If you don't work you have plenty of time, but no money to buy them.
Thing is I am gonna be studying and working starting August so I will have even less time to play vidyagaems.
Or be like me and be in-between jobs and have a bunch of money saved on your bank account. So, i can buy them and play them.
> buying digital games
what are you retarded?
No, I am just not a kid with no money.
eh i make a decent amount for my age. either way there's no point in buying digital content considering if you just wanna play the game rather than physically own it then you may as well just nick it from your local torrent site.
also i apologize for the are you retarded comment. i wasnt creative enough to think of another way to kickstart a convo about the value of digital goods.
It's almost as if people wanted to support developers....
I do! and 'd be happy to purchase a legal copy of, for example, Tyranny if obsidian were to release a physical copy to stores but i'm not gonna support any industry going full digital.
Now THAT is retarded.
how so? in the case of purchesing digital games you're only purchasing permission to run the software essentially. if you delete that game and then its removed from the store, what then? i don't like digital games. the format is just not to my taste how is that retarded?
Oh my god, digital is so dumb, I totally want to have to spend physical space on discs that then can get damaged for a number of reasons and lose access to the shit I bought. I also want to have to physically ship games that I want to play from another country and have to pay double for them. I also want only AAA developers who can shoulder the costs of printing thousands of useless discs to be able to make games.
Continuing to spend on plastic that fucks up the envirorment and have to keep older and older hardware to be able to play shit I buy or rebuy it because physical media formats change all the time, built in obsolence is the best!
Being able to store all my music in a device? That's dumb, I rather have to lug around a bunch of cassettes and CDs to be able to switch albums on the fly. And Books? I like lunging pounds of paper on my backpack whenever I fly because digital is so gay.
Paying a monthly fee to be able to watch whatever I want on the fly? Nah, I rather waste money on a bunch of bluerays, that I also need a special player to watch! Digital is so gay
Call me retarded but having physical discs and physical consoles on the shelf is and always will be more satisfying than booting up an emulator or scrolling through a steam library. i own it and its mine. it wont be taken off my shelf like something might be from netflix's catalogue. it'll always be there. and that's nice.
Well, you attach your satisfaction to physical objects instead of to experiences. Physical objects that break, are overpriced and have built in obsolence in them.
digital goods can stop working just from changing your OS. and yeah they may be overpriced on release but most games are pretty cheap now. you can buy an original Xbox and like 7 games for as little as $60. and besides shit doesn't break if you take care of it.
I definetly love having to buy film for a camera that I have to pay someone to reveal to be able to have the photos when I want them, and having to keep the negative in a dry cool place or risk losing it forever, storing your photos on a memory stick? That's gay.
also how is being obsolete a problem? just because things aren't being made for a console anymore doesn't make it useless.
If a digital good stops working from changing my OS I can just downgrade or download software to make it work again without having to buy and lug a piece of plastic crap that was obsolete technology even when it was new.
well photos are a far different thing than video games or movies. now you're just being facecious.
I sure love horading plastic boxes and fiddle around with cable configurations just to play Crash Bandicoot, and that is if the lens or the disc haven't gotten scratched and damaged just from general use.
I am just taking your argument to it's logical extreme.
what do you mean lug it around? you hook the thing up and then it stays there.
Is your desk/shelf connected to hammerspace?
you're making this out to be way wrose than it is. and yeah i really enjoy collecting games and consoles. its not at all a hassle to hook something up to a tv. and a disc doesn't get scratched from general use unless you're just careless.
Discs do get damaged from general use, like any physical object that gets force applied to it, however minimal, gets damaged with general use, specially when it's method of use is to spin around at high speed inside a tray that it can touch by bending even slightly from the force.
Oxygen itself damages shit, just having the disc out contributes to disc rot.
i've never had disc rot but its always there in the back of my brain... and yeah digital is a great way to preserve content but its just not how i want to collect stuff.
I don't care if I have physical copies of my games or if they are saved in some kind of cloud/hard drive what ever. But I have to say, there are two things that really distrub me. One is the fucking software. I avoided games for windows life like the plaque beacuse It NEVER(!) worked for me properly and even locked me out of some games, games that worked when I used a fucking crack to remove GFWL.
THe second issue, are the sometimes really shitty consumer rights with digital games. You often can't return them, for example if you have an extremly bugged game or if you simply don't like and if it really happens that a game is not supported anymore, it can be a hassle to start it when it's requiring online conections.
Game for WIndows Life? Are you posting from the early 2000s Crni? That shit doesn't even existe anymore. Steam also has refunds.
Yeah, it does have those features now after like almost 20 years of games beeing sold digitally. WOOOHOOOOW!. And Sony, I actually played Steam games before Steam was even a thing. And the service was absolute trash for years on release. It's awesome what it has become today, no doubts about it. But one shouldn't pretend like it's a perfect world.
*15 year and these features are already various years old. I see no point in going on about what it was when what it is right now is actually pretty good all things considered. Only issue I have is the seeming monopoly it has on AAA game distribution, but seeing the shit job the competitors are doing offering an alternative we are lucky steam even bothers improving.
I am sometimes really glad that I don't give a fuck about gaming anymore to be honest.
Same Crni. this gen's AAA lineup has been so lackluster that im not even gonna fuck with this gen until the next one's out. i have been buying a lot of old shit tho and the nostalgia is pretty powerful. good times.
