    It was an interesting idea though, from a TNG perspective, as later episodes and storylines have been very different.

    Bleh no it didn't. It was very interesting and it's not as tho they suggested the federation was anything other than a perfect government... that was deep space 9's job

    I am not sure if I would want to live in a TNG Universe though. I mean their crews seem to lack even the most profane understanding of safety. Particularly the numbers of time incidents in duty, must be pretty high, if we take the Enterprise as some kind of average here.
