There are some games that are widely considered bad, or just not very good. Are there any games you enjoy playing even though they're barely ok at best?

    One I like is MGSV.

Now MGSV is a terrible Metal Gear Solid game. Its story is all over the place, characters from previous games are thrown in just for the hell of it, it's repetitive, some characters are poorly done, it handles the lore badly and it's a huge open world with barely anything in it.

However, I still enjoy playing it from time to time. It does give you a lot of gear and weapons to use (after the long ass research time) and once you've played through the slog of a story, replaying missions can be fun with new gear. I like that you can change your main character as well, with some other characters having bonuses such as faster running speed or more health. I find it more fun to just forget playing as the main character and make up some other story for anyone else you pick.

I wouldn't call it a bad game, but because it was made by Deck 13, retarded kids tend to instantly call it a shit game without even trying or thinking, but anyways, I'd say the Surge is a ton of fun for me. Takes place in a futuristic world with high tech rigs and badass weapons. Combat is fucking A+, and the story is interesting enough to play through and read the logs around the area. Weapons can be pretty creative in how they're designed, after all, it's supposed to be a production/construction facility that uses humans as the heavy lifters.

I'm interested in The Surge, and have no idea who Deck 13 is. There's backlash?

Bad? Or just not sufficiently appreciated?

Starship Troopers: Terran Ascendancy by Blue Tongue Entertainment & published by Microprose. Squad based RTS, with some neat stuff mixed in. Takes a page from both the movie and the books, but doesn't take itself super seriously. Some enemies are too easy to exploit, but I'd love for someone to make a game with similar mechanics, potentially in another setting. It was fun as hell.

Zenith by Infinigon & published by Badland Games. Talk about tongue in cheek. This is more tongue in brain... This game was mechanically subpar, but fun as hell due to its humor and self-awareness.

They're the ones who made Lords of the Fallen, to which people like Zero Punctuation quickly called it a Souls Wannabe or Souls-like game, but then it got shat on for not being Dark Souls, and the rest is history. Then the same guy played The Surge, and called it shit because of the third boss, though apparently he didn't have any brain cells left to rub together that perhaps he could take a look in the fucking OPTIONS menu and see if he could take off the auto targeting camera and alter it. It was literally the first thing I did after 3 failed attempts at the boss, as I took notice at the issue I was experiencing, went through options praying that they had camera options and cheered with joy to see it.

From experience, the game is amazingly fun when you got that auto-lock camera off.

I'm a big fan of the 2000AD games: Judge Dredd: Dredd Vs Death and Rogue Trooper. They're both not great shooters, but they service the license well.

I enjoyed derping through Skyrim, and I've actually done replays of FO4, while groaning mind you. In fact, FO4 could be a totally run o' the mill ish post apo themed shooter time killer, if they had just done the final mercy and cut out the dialog altogether.

I liked running around the Nuka Cola park shooting the AK-47 (which is the *only* gun in the entire game that is based on a real gun, afaik. Maybe the revolver and hunting rifle too, but they're much more vague)

Playing Call of Duty is a nice little pastime since I never have enough time to spend on larger/more in-depth titles. Heck, I can't even be bothered to play most games all the way through anymore.

The assault rifle, too. Although that one's based on a WWI heavy MG for some reason.

    Might and Magic X: Legacy.

I can't call it a bad game since I have fun playing it, but it's not considered a good game generally.

    Age of Empires 3.
It was considered a bad game for years after it was released, but recently I noticed that people seem to like it these days, so I don't know .

It also has parts from the MG 08. Like some other designs in the Fallout universe it's an amalgamation of different real world guns.
The assault rifle makes even less sense than the Gauss Rifle in Fallout 3, which was based on the finnish Lahti L39 anti-tank rifle, which they just took and replaced the magazine on. Unfortunately, now the magazine obstructs the charging handle crank, which they didn't bother to remove from it.

TES: Oblivion is what I have been playing recently. There's many reasons to hate it, but I do have fond of it, being first TES game I played even. Also, modding it is more versatile compared to say, Skyrim.

Compared to Skyrim, I find Oblivion much more... uplifting. The whole GoT-wannabe-grittyness of Skyrim gets tiresome, and in comparison I really enjoy the bright color palette in Oblivion, there's a good dose of "magic feeling" in it

Yes, Skyrim is located in north place with snow and shit, but even then, it has a nice blue tone instead toning and washing off colors.

Oblivion I like, despite having HDR that kills my eyes sometimes, it's really beautiful with it's weather. The armors were also not ridicilous looking imo, the conversations NPCs had, while memetic, were random, and not getting tiresome, compared to Skyrim where just few scripted NPCs repeat same lines.

Level scaling is really the only thing I despise about the game, and it can be very easily toned down or turned off, thanks to mod magic. In addition, Jeremy Soule still had good OST upon this game, I dunno how he managed to screw up Skyrim music, making only dragon fight themes memorable.

Also yes, I like the potato faces unironically.

Lol, potato faces, I really dislike them, but I dislike the grunge-serious-angry-goth faces of Skyrim more

Bethesda always sucked at faces, really... FO3 too - and FO4, why can they not do faces!??

Horse-beating time - faces in FONV were really cool and human looking
