Bethesda isn't all that bad when they made id Software great again with the release of the reboot DOOM, but when it comes to Bethesda Game Studios, now that's a different story!

I'm sure that troika would of died and gone bankrupted before they could finish a fallout game and we would only have another van buran.

I also would preffered if the franchise had died instead of going to Bethesda. And that means New Vegas not existing if it meant shit like Fallout 3, 4 and 76 not existing as well.

Better than being paraded like a corpse.

they've literally never made a good fallout game tho. barring New Vegas which they merely published.

you should. they lie all the time and fuck over smaller studios for profit.

its probably not todd's fault. he's on record of being a fallout fan as far back as 98. all these garbage design choices are almost certainly being pushed by higher ups. or are otherwise being neccessitated by deadlines and working conditions.
lol. i wouldn't call a complete and total bastardization of the franchise a "revival". lets just be lucky we got NV out of this horrible situation.
    already has been.

    its been stripped

of its themes tone and lore. and now the very character system that every fallout game is built on now exists in name only. much like the series itself.

lol no we don't. they make shit. shit isn't designed. there's no passion or thought behind it. its merely excreted. and the masses eat it up.

New Vegas basically exists DESPITE bethesda. seriously don't you know the insane deadlines and arbitrary setbacks they imposed on the dev team?
the creation engine as i understand it is basically still gambryo.

same engine they've been using since 2002.

kinda makes one appreciate ID software when they make a whole new engine for nearly every game. (which is fucking insane btw)

I've created a thread in the Fallout 3 subforum which is a rebuttal of this article.

That's a very selfish attitude, Norzan. There are people that enjoy Bethesda's games, even if you personally don't. And Bethesda buying the franchise exposed tons of people to Fallout 1 and 2 who'd never heard of it before, myself included.

I absolutely despise what Disney's done with Star Wars, but I don't wish death on the franchise if it means a new generation will discover Jedi, Sith, lightsabers, and TIE Fighters.

I honestly couldn't care less if it's selfish. And expose people to Fallout 1 and 2? I see Bethesda fans constantly telling the first two games suck because they are "ancient" and "turn based sucks".

So yes, i would have rather if stayed dead. At least i wouldn't see a franchise i like being paraded like a puppet and tons of people buying the game, basically telling them to make more like these.

yeah well just because someone somewhere enjoyed a thing doesn't make it a positive thing.

fallout 3/4 have had horrible irreversible effects on the canon and integrity of this franchise. the brand is damaged and has lost all identity.
they are, genuinely, as bad as the star wars prequels within the context of the franchise.

    speaking of star wars
the new generation is always gonna discover star wars. its friggen star wars. doesn't mean we have to put up with dumpster fires like the last jedi and bland non-movies like rogue one.

star wars can be good and you shouldn't be okay with it being bad because "kids watch em"

if Dave Filoni could take over all of star wars going forward that'd make me pretty goddamn happy tbh.

What credit? Because we got FO3 and FNV?
The only credit I see from Bethesda was when they found out that Troika Games was bidding to acquire the Fallout IP, they went and decided they should acquire the IP instead.
This made it so the original creators of the IP couldn't acquire it and continue the IP properly.

Not only could this have allowed to have a proper cRPG Fallout IP, it could have even saved Troika Games from bankrupcy. To be honest, Troika Games was the only gaming development studio I ever got sad it didn't make it. I love all of their released games and they are all on my top 10 list of computer games.

Also worth noticing, Bethesda originally only had the rights to make 3 Fallout games. But gained the rights to the IP on court, because Interplay was going bankrupt and couldn't cover the costs of the trial, with exception for a Fallout online game. They then once again ripped-off the rights for the online game on court, because Interplay was running on fumes back then and once again couldn't keep paying the court costs. So even the full IP rights were acquired underhandedly. Not even in a fair way.

Not to mention... Bethesda Fallout games are usually the least rated Fallout games by the players. Even Fallout Tactics has better rates than Fallout 3 and Fallout 4 in most rate sites/Steam/GOG/etc.
So even the players are saying that Bethesda Fallout games are not as good as the previous and New Vegas. It's not just NMA.

Also I don't despise Bethesda Game Studios, some of my favorite games were made by them. I even liked Fallout 3. But I have eyes, that allow me to see how Bethesda grabbed two of the best cRPG IPs (one of them their own in-house made IP) and turned them into action shooters. They can't make RPGs anymore and that saddens me, doesn't make me despise them, just saddens me.

They have access to so many studios because of Zenimax, why don't they have their smaller ones making actual cRPGs using their IPs? They can release their big AAA action shooters for the IP as they have been, but also could release smaller cRPGs too. The IPs are strong enough that can happen and they would turn a big profit just from brand recognition. Instead we get card and mobile games using those IPs :whatever:.

Not to mention if it stayed dead, maybe some better company could have eventually picked it up and made much better games. Maybe Obsidian could have contacted this company or vice-versa and have New Vegas on an engine that is not total shit.

If video games are an art medium and someone enjoyed them, I think that does make it a positive thing.

    In your opinion

    I liked the prequels

That's not true. After enough years pass, if a franchise remains inactive, it becomes part of "The Past" and if it's good enough, maybe it'll become a "Timeless Classic". But A little kid growing up in 2019 isn't going to respect the classics. He's not going to go watch a movie from the 1970's.

I'm not okay with it being bad, I just don't wish permadeath on the franchise

I'll agree with this, but it doesn't count as "saying dead" if another company revives it.

As far as Troika Games goes, their list of games isn't very extensive or impressive. And they haven't done much lately. There's no indication that they would've done anything successful with Fallout even if they'd acquired it.

"if animal abuse is a thing and someone enjoyed it then i think that does make it a positive thing"
lol no. some things are objectively bad.

no its pretty much demonstrably true that series canon is broken beyond all repair due to fallout 3/4 shenanigans. its undeniable fact. its also demonstrably true that the series identity is so shattered that we have, all in one fandom, people who want isometric, ARPG new vegas, and people who more shoot n looters. these are all 3 very different types of games all released as main entries.

you've just lost all credibility on star wars my dude.
you mean like star wars already did 30 years ago?

star wars is so heavily steeped into pop culture that i assure you it is going nowhere for a very loooooong time.

lol ok mister "i liked the prequels"

me either. i just want dave filoni to take over the franchise.

Are you comparing someone enjoying an inanimate object to someone enjoying torturing a living thing?

Some things are objectively bad. Video games are an artistic medium, so opinions on them are inherently subjective.

Liking the prequels makes me "lose all Star Wars credibility"? That's as asinine as me saying that you hating the prequels makes you lose all of your Star Wars credibility.

You know that Lucas made the prequels, so they're as much a part of Star Wars as the original trilogy is, right?

Yeah, Star Wars was pretty much irrelevant to kids in the late 80's. Then Timothy Zahn and a bunch of other talented authors revived it with books and video games. It was enough of a revival to make Lucas remaster and re-release the originals in theaters and then develop the prequels. The only reason I discovered Star Wars as a kid was because the original trilogy got re-released in theaters.

Anyway, it's been fun talking about Star Wars but I think this thread is getting derailed from the original post so I'll stop posting now.

that doesn't make them a worthy addition. hell what did Lucas do besides direct the first movie (which was saved in editing btw) and own the rights?
opinions may be subjective but quality is not. and in pure terms of quality fallout 3 is objectively bad. its one of the most poorly written games ever and the minute to minute gameplay feels like assplay gone horribly wrong.

except no because anyone who actually likes those dumpster fires is an insane person.

Now let's not be childish. As you can see, BGS's Fallout series takes place in the East Coast while Interplay/Obsidian's Fallout series takes place mostly in the West Coast, just to be on equal grounds on each of their interpretations of the Fallout Universe. As most of the West Coast has Lore of its own while the East Coast also has Lore of its own. (redundant much? I THINK NOT!!!) The point is that both sides have their own coast to tell their own stories (even when it either succeeded, failed, or just a hit and miss). So, if you don't agree with me and stick to your selfish beliefs, then that's fine with me. Why, you may ask? Because you just keep on being you. Now enough of this bickering and the cynicism, there's a shining new light in the form of "THE OUTER WORLDS" coming this year!!! Are you excited? Because I'm sure as well anticipated for this! :ok:

I still hate that fallout isnt isometric and turn based anymore (just imagine some turned diablo into a shooter, its not right).
Played Fallout 3 and it was meh, started fallout4 and couldn't manage to finish it. special gone, and I spent more time managing my inventory instead of playing the game. Fallou76 I won't even get. People here fearing about what Bethesda would do to fallout were right after all. it may not be dead but its currently being held hostage and raped to death.

To be honest, the isometric and turn-based combat is a bit clunky, so most of that haven't aged well into recent gaming history. I'm not saying it's terrible, but it can throw some gamers off when first playing any game that is isometric turn-based. Like Torment: Tides of Numenera for example (even when the rest is rich and masterful despite with a few crashes). So turning Fallout from what perspective it used to be to the more common perspective as a First-Person/Third Person Shooter can welcome a lot of newcomers to the franchise. (For my advice to all newcomers, go with New Vegas rather than 3, you won't regret it I guaranteed it.) :deal:

Credit for what, exactly? I will give them credit for what they did, which is buy a franchise and make some poorly written games in that franchise. This wasn't an act of charity. I don't see what they deserve other than the money they already made, and an honest assessment of the products they produced in the process.

I wouldn't give Peter Jackson credit for making more people read Lord of the Rings. I wouldn't give Miller High Life kudos just because it was the first beer I drank, having later gone on to drink better beers. "Thanks, Miller! You suck, but you have the same name attached to you as some other things that don't suck. Well done!"

That take some balls for typing that kind of shit right where everybody can see it, but sometimes I too wish for the death of the Star Wars franchise. Not in a brutal way, but in a satisfying conclusion that goes out with a bang. (turns on the TV)---"Up Next, STAR WARS THE MUSICAL! STARRING ZAC EFRON AS ANIKYN SKYWALKER, MILEY CYRUS AS PADME AND CHRIS TUCKER AS JAR-JAR BINKS IN HILARIOUS HIJINKS WITH SONGS AND DANCE NUMBERS! WITH SPECIAL GUEST GEORGE LUCAS AS THE GUY WE GET TO KICK THE EVER-LOVING SHIT OUT OF HIM FOR PARTNERING WITH US!! BECAUSE Hey, IT CAN'T ALL BE LOLLIPOPS AND SUNSHINE CAN IT? 'CAUSE WE'RE DISNEY YOU FUCKING DEGENERATES AND KEEP WATCHING US UNTIL THE VERY DAY WE EXTERMINATE YOU ALL WITH OUR RUTHELESS AND MERCILESS SHEMALE ARMIES WITH A GLOBAL FUCKING BLOOD ORGY TO EXTINCTION!!! HAAAAHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"----- (turns off the TV)
Ok I think we need to talk about the current Disney we're dealing with, because this shit just got out of hand, good fuck! :tired:
