If you are serious. Yes, you need both fans.

This feels like a question from 20 or so years ago.

I can just imagine some idiot removing the fan from their graphics card because they already have a fan on their PC and I just cringe...

I guess you mean your case already has a fan. It is completely independent of the CPU and graphic card fans. The case fan can be removed, but if you remove the graphic card fan it will probably burn in 3-4 seconds.

You need all the fans. Trust me.

It won't. All GPUs throttle down when reaching a certain temperature now, and if it increases even more, it shuts down. The R9 290, for example shuts down at 105 C or so. (and begins throttling at 94 C)

So put fans and heat sinks on all the things?

This makes me sad that Hyperbole and a Half isn't getting updated anymore.

Some cards won't even turn on the fans until they reach a certain temperature. I had a GTX 970 that had the fans off in 2D mode.
Removing the CPU fan, on the other hand, will most likely lead to an emergency shutdown immediately after turning on the power.

Same with new Pascal chip, my GTX 1060 turns the fans off in low-clock mode too.
