From gecko crippling themselves from missing, to raiders dropping their guns for easy loot and victories, to boxers falling over from missing and making you instantly win, is Jinxed OP?

My current character, with 10 luck (Zeta scan, fuck yeah!), and Jinxed, is comically powerful when enemies outnumber him.

There are countless times where melee enemies, up to deathclaws, fall over from missing, and the occasional weapon being destroyed when people shoot at me.

Of all the traits, I find this one to be the most broken of them all.

I've never tried it, but don't you lose your weapons as well? Shouldn't this be very annoying and challenging ?

You have the choice to not attack, AI ALWAYS have to attack, even at long range.

Therefore, just run closer when you want to attack. ;P

Oh, i see. A pity that it plays out like that. I was expecting it to make things totally unpredictable, and was planning to use it for my next playthrough.

It mostly affects enemies, and your allies.

It rarely occurs to you, unless you do high chance to miss shot. ;D

You should use it, see how it goes.

I am not sure it was mean to be balanced, especially at 10 luck. It's a wacky trait like wild wasteland, more fun than logical.

It makes the boxing piss easy though, stay still and they fall over, making you instantly win. DX

Luck only makes it work if you miss, still.

So if you ensure you hit, you're safe.

Yes, it is unbalanced a lot.
I like to play with Jinx and Unarmed with 10 luck too, and it is really interesting seeing the enemies getting crippled limbs or lose all the ammo, lose their turns , etc.
When I play I tend to lose my turn a few times if I attack, but I never get much worst than that usually.

This is a weird kind of thread coming from the guy/gal/xir/xer who complained about balancing single-player games.

Never said Jinxed being OP is a BAD thing.

But it legitimately does break the boxing matches, for starters.

Not as broken as Gifted or Fast Shot, but definitely awesome for melee characters. I think it's a fine trait.

I'm the sort of guy who likes bursting a Bozar two or three times per round. Add the Sniper perk to that and you don't need eye criticals.

    Oh true...

That's kinda a nice thing in Fallout 1-2.

Burst fire is just as powerful as aimed shots.

Only downside is ammo consumption, but that can be averted just buy selling good loot, and .223 is dirt cheap.

The problem with Jinxed is that critical misses still only happen when you, well, miss. By the late game, many enemies have such ridiculous weapon skills that they have a 95% chance to hit regardless of anything you do.

    Que?

Even the Enclave rarely hit you when you're in power armour, with dodger perk and 10 agility.

If they are using a weapon with the long range perk, they will very rarely miss just because of how OP it is. IIRC with 8 PE it gives you an extra 48% to hit or something silly.

I can tell you that even then, Enclave will miss with Plasma Rifles (which have the perk).

I ran a Jinxed+HtH Evade game once, Navarro was absolutely hilarious (Plasma Turret critically missed and its weapon exploded). It seems that ranged distance modifiers are capped at some point before AC is applied, because the baddies did miss. But they were aiming at my legs and other body parts a lot, so maybe it's their own fault for writing checks their aim can't cash.

The Long Ranged weapon perk doesn't exactly give you a straight up bonus to hit. It works like this: Normally, ranged weapons will have an "effective range" of 2*(Perception-2) hexes, so with a PE of 5 anything further away than 6 hexes will be much more difficult to hit. What the Long Range perk does, is double this range to 4*(Perception-2). So it does usually increase your chance to hit, but it depends on what weapon you're using and how far away you are.

I wonder how well a character with high throwing, luck 10 and, jinxed would work out? Anyone want to play hot potato?
