Actually to be honest one thing annoyed me about The Revenant, they'd changed the actual story for the movie. They added the
son who gets killed and some other stuff in the end.
I hate that stuff. The real story is dramatic enough, stick with that and do it well.

It was the same thing with In the Heart of the Sea, another movie I recently saw. I read the book and liked it very much. Had some expectations for the movie that proceeded to change the story a lot. Not gonna go through all the changes. Lots of CGI in that movie too, the whales were ok done I guess, and the whaling ship itself was real I guess. Why does Hollywood in this day and age make changes to real stories? What are they gonna do next, film the bible and have Jesus live? Sheesh it's annoying.

    Just watched Son of Saul

Good movie, but terrible idea to watch with my dad and brother, as a kind of "man, we haven't done anything fun together in a long time! Hey, people say Zootropolis is really good!" "Animation, no?" "yes!" "hmmm... "
So, after some back and forth, we settled on "Son of Saul"

We came out of the theater somber and quiet :I
    I am still somber :I

Bought the Hateful Eight on VUDU, good movie, though a little predictable. Walter Goggins though keeps knocking his roles out of the park.

Now I finally know why I like Django so much. Because I have no clue what Keep it Funny means.

Well I finished watching the animated The Dark Knight Returns Parts 1 and 2 they are on HBOgo. Was satisfied; slight differences from the graphic novel. Bats internal monologue was missing which was not a deal breaker for me personally, but I understand some of the flack it got for that. That aside, it was pretty faithful. I'd say watch this instead of Bats v Supes Dawn of franchise. SLICE an DICE !

After reading a lot of user reviews on Metacritic, but not yet seeing Batman v Superman, it seems to me that people are split on the quality of some of the performances, especially Jesse Eisenberg playing Lex Luthor. Most people actually liked Ben Affleck as Batman. The biggest complaint was the story / editing: just way too much going on and not enough story points actually reaching a satisfying resolution.

Some people felt the Man of Steel supporting characters changed into a less likable form. Some said the motivations for some characters just didn't make sense. But yeah they said too many times where there should be a continuation of story it just turns in mind-numbing excess of action sequences.

As someone who has seen most of his other works, I blame Zack Snyder. He may be able to create compelling visuals for action sequences, but he doesn't seem to know how to craft a great story (especially if it isn't handed to him as a completed graphic novel) and he does not seem to know how to tie action sequences to character motivations, which is what all great action movies do.

    Edit: added the last "not"

Watched the original Alien before playing Alien: Isolation recently. I really recommend it to everyone planning to play the game.

Yep, good movie and good game, sadly not much replayability and frustrating that it ends with a cliffhanger. The studio that developed it would like to make a sequel but it is improbable that they will get the chance.
Looking back on SEGA's effort with the Alien franchise we got two good games: Alien Isolation and Aliens Infestation, and one average (Aliens VS Predator) and a bad one (Aliens: Colonial Marines)

Personally I am not sure what can be done more storywise with the xenomorphs, we know the creatures to well now.

Regarding movies, in particular super hero movies. While I have enjoyed some of the super hero movies that Marvel has been producing I am becoming rather tired of them.
What I also find frustrating that the whole 'sharing the same universe' concept is set up is now also demanded by other movie studios for their movies, despite some of them not being able to work like that at all (Ghostbusters)

Does anyone here know of any good sounding upcoming original science fiction or action adventure movies?
I'm a Trekker (still somewhat) but unless someone invites me I am going to skip on Star Trek Beyond.

Russian historical drama Viking looks very good, TDG:

edit: Also, as for sci-fi: announced Blade Runner 2 project (2018) sounds very tempting to me!

NO! First Sweden, then America, then Russia!
Will we let every country on earth beat us to "the viking movie"!?
    Wake up Norway :'(
Shit, I bet Chile will finish a Viking epic before we do...

Saw Deadpool. It was actually mostly well done. Pretty neat if that kind of humor is your thing.

Perhaps the Superman vs. Batman fiasco marks a turning point in that matter? But besides of that it's business as usual in Hollywood: Milk it until it dies.

So I went to watch BvS. It had plenty of issues (just like Marvel's movies) but it was overall a good movie. It did a lot of things the Marvel universe is scared of doing, I would go into detail but those are spoilers. Batffleck is a better Batman than Christian Bale, he looks the part, is crazy and obssesive and he actually plans shit out. The movie did feel cramped because they wanted to set up the Justice League movies, not gonna go into detail again, but there is a whole sequence in the movie I would've made into a viral marketing campaign instead of a scene in the movie. The fight was good, Wonder Woman was cool in the fight (can't say much about her character as she was mostly a b-plot). Jesse Eisenberg performance as Lex Jr. kind of didn't connect, he had some good moments and the idea of this Luthor as someone driven mad by a revelation was interesting.... but the character more often than not comes off as clownish, too clownish for Lex Luthor, even if he is supposed to be his kid. Batman's night terrors I actually liked, made you wonder how much of what Batman saw all around him was real and what were just hallucinations.

The complaints I feel have been blown up out of proportion, some of the detractors even have some rather outright laughable rreasons that make me question their mental maturity (some even saying that they wanted to be Batman as children and crying about this Batman being too violent), the movie takes a lot from the Dark Knight Returns and Kingdom Come so it's obviously not gonna have the same tone as Marvel's action comedies, I didn't expect them to be like the MCU and I didn't want them to be like them. Some people are even complaining about things that are in shows like Arrow that they loved so much so yeah.... A lot of hate boners for Zack Snyder are pretty apparent too.

Again, the movie is not flawless by any stretch, but it sets up a good and interesting base for an alternative to the MCU movies, lets hope they don't puss out from the outcry.

When was that? He pushes a dude through a wall and on the fight with Batman both sides traded a lot of punishment.

I don't know, i saw a trailer where both of them were fighting and i thought that it's pretty funny that this is even a fight when superman should be able to crush anyone in nano seconds (i was referring to batman as "simple dude").
