Bethesda says Fallout 4 is the biggest game in the company’s history

Biggest game? May be. Biggest bumbler so far? That's for sure.

It seems Bethesda does realized that they have screwed up FO4, and to be frank, I would like to see them screwed up real big as well. Just to teach them a lesson and may be forcing them to offload some asset such as the Fallout franchise to someone better.

Want to try something new huh? How about a BETTER STORY?

They need to suffer economically.

Until then, they'll keep pandering and harvesting from the Least Common Denominator possible. That's all they care about. Damn the story, genre, consistency - as long as a lot of people think it's fun and pay for it, they'll keep cranking stuff out. Its been six years since Skyrim came out and they're still milking that cow.

Yeah I was gonna say that Skyrim was their biggest game... Did Fallout 4 'really' sell more units than Skyrim?

Lots of people either pre-order it or buy it on day one, maybe they only consider those buyers as real selling.

Same. One would have thinked that they'd have learned from both NV and Skyrim to get the best of both worlds, but it was Bethesda after all.

I too pre-ordered it along with the season pass and strategy guide.

I was hoping Bethesda would at least take lessons from NV, and with Skyrim, it looked liked they were improving in terms of writing aspects.

But overall, the game upset me.

Beth really does need new writers, even for PR stunts like this one - they seem to have gotten the word "game" mixed up with the words "fuck up".

Bethesda sure loves their staggering numbers. It's like they don't know that along quantity there's also quality. Are they stuck in Soviet Union era?

But nonetheless, Fallout 4 is their biggest, for sure. A game with biggest impact on Fallout modding scene (New Vegas sure got seriously improved, with the expense of F4 itself), aswell as rule34 decrease (in general, sadly) too (side effect of died hype).

But its actual their worst game. I mean other than skyrim that is but still. At least elder scrolls is like their own thing so you if they fuck it up I'm okay with that but there abit to much at stake for fucking Fallout to be honest.

I dare say when they release skyrim mk 2 that will be there biggest game. I mean if you think about the games they release they are getting more popular with every release. And elder scrolls does have a big following. So yeah we will see

Can't wait for them to degrade Fantasy RPGs even more with their stamped factory line near-shovelware. And yea, it'll probably make a lot of dough.

I'm interested in looking forward to the next fallout in a way, i mean what will they do next considering Fallout 4 is already a dumbed down version of fallout, only thing they can do is make another one that's basicly the same (like call of duty), or maybe somehow get better (highly unlikely tho).

This is yet another 'announcement' as dumb as that one proclaiming their Xb1's modding scene getting big or some shit like that. They are probably desperate in cranking up their position in the market through such scheme.

Shortly after NV, and then playing Fallout 1-2, I realised how shitty Bethesda games are, and how shit 3 was.

Because of this, I didn't really pay attention to Fallout 4.

I saw dozens of the ads, but I'm so desensitived to ads (and adblock helps ;D), I didn't even realise when it actually got released.

Lo and behold, it's shit.

Remember that Fallout 4 had a huge marketing hype behind it. I mean I remember tons of people saying they hadn't played a fallout game before, but were caught into the hype and all excited. Personally I think New Vegas was such a good game that it left people dying for more and after all those years people were desperate for anything. Plus many people even myself admittedly were under the belief and assumption that Bethesda would work off of lessons learned in New Vegas and change their ways, but we all know how that turned out. The fanboys and paid review shills kept the game at high scores but there was a noticeable backlash of people who were disappointed that even Bethesda admitted that there were problems ie Todd Howard mentioning the voiced protagonist didn't work out so well.

Perhaps economically and technically (world size and graphically not content)
Someone checked and Fallout 4 isn't the Bethesda game with bigger landmass/map/world size either.
Someone went to a lot of effort to make same scale maps of all the Bethesda games since Morrowind (also includes Fallout New Vegas) and post them here:
http://fallout.gamepedia.com/Far_Harbor:_A_Size_Comparison
If we see the images next to each other we can see that Fallout 4 doesn't have the biggest map at all (since all the map images are using the same scale, we can't use the ingame map sizes to compare because they use different scales, for example in Fallout New Vegas each square in the ingame map grid is 4x4 cells while Fallout 4 is 2x2 cells, so FNV map shows twice the size on each grid square than FO4 ingame map).

Their main job is to sell their games, not to actually make them.
And the game sold well. Mission accomplished.

(Beside, even if they get less game award and less than stellar review, i don't think it is an historic fiasco that will cripple the company reputation for decades. Bioware suffered more with ME III poor ending for instance. Even if you didn't care about the company, you knew it happened.)
