I've recently returned to Fallout 1 & 2 and have a few questions about some of the mods out there. First I've noticed there are 2 branches of Sfall, the official and one by a user named "Crafty". Although I see advantages to used Crafty's over the obsolete 1.18 when it comes to Fallout 1, what...
Speaking of compatibility with other versions, do you think you could release an unpacked copy (no exe compression) of your mod for use with the old Omni Group PPC Mac build of the game. I've tried various tools and none of them can open your exe files.
You know, I tried to download & install TeamX's 1.3 patch to see if it's compatible, but it keeps telling me the archive is incomplete whenever I attempt to extract it. Just so you know, I'm using The Unarchiver to extract the rar file.
That mod's available at the fallout database. Although it is Mac native, I don't use it as it seems to have a lot of glitches (perhaps it was made for an earlier/unpatched version of the game).
As I said the GOG Mac version is really just the PC version in a wine wrapper. The old PPC builds a...
From my understanding that only works on the GOG version (which is essentially the windows version in a wine wrapper). I'm talking about the original PowerPC Mac version from the Omni Group in 2002.
I think I might have said this before but, are there any mods/unofficial patches that run on the Omni Group's old Mac native builds of Fallout 1 & 2 (besides Killap's Fallout 2 patch)?
Indeed you would. That's why I'm asking if you know of anyone who could assist with such a thing?
Also Direct-X is only used on Windows, us Mac/Linux users have OpenGL.
@burn who says I need to hire some one? sfall's source is available. I just need to compile it. The only problem is that I'm not experienced enough to do it so I may need some help or advice at least. Linux users do this all the time. Get source, run it through a compiler, build it, play it.
There's only one problem with that: why buy the windows version of the game if I already own the Mac version? Also on a side note, wine (and similar software such as emulators) aren't very efficient in terms of gaming. You only use them as last resorts.
Ok now I know what it is, an update to the original game engines allowing it to be used on modern OSs. It also allows for higher resolution textures, which explains this project's dependency on it.
Has any one tried to port this engine update to Mac? If anyones willing to try, we might even be...
