The "what are you watching" thread

Well it's not that they realize it's a niche IP that only appeals to an audience and then they try to cultivate a show for them, it's moreso that it's an expensive production (SNW costs like $10m per episode) and doesn't appeal to the kind of braindead consumer that buys the streaming packages...

The "what are you watching" thread

I think the worst thing, retrospectively, is that it's clear he didn't understand the character fundamentally. But Stewart's nonsense wasn't something out of the blue with the Picard show, because he insisted on the action sequences in the movies and turned them into 90s schlock-action films...

    Fallout: London

Did they fix it to work on the newest version of Fallout 4 yet? Or does it still require a downgrade? For some reason every time I've attempted to run their downgrade installer via Steam it doesn't work.

Should there be Empire Building 'Fallout 4X' ?

The closest you can get to this is the Old World Blues mod for Hearts of Iron IV, which opens just before the Mojave Expedition and the First Battle of Hoover Dam.

    Fallout 5 Finally Got Greenlit?

How was it only "greenlit" now? And when's it even going to come out? There hasn't been anything out of TES6 besides that fake-out reveal trailer almost ten years ago.

The "what are you watching" thread

I wasn't a fan from the first episode. It felt completely opposite of what Trek was supposed to be. It barely felt like a Star Trek show, and every episode after that just confirmed that feeling. On the topic of the "story could be told in two or three episodes" it's an issue with how shows are...

The "what are you watching" thread

Oh, then in that case definitely, although some of TNG's faults is that Patrick Stewart leveraged his appearances being contingent on getting to be the action hero. One of the worst examples of an actor totally misunderstanding the character. You can see this also deeply affected Picard...

Does anyone have any faith in the future of this franchise at this point?

The most egregious thing is one of their lead writers, or it might have actually been THE lead writer, said that he prioritizes environmental storytelling (That is to say, skeletons in funny poses and holotapes) over quest design since they want the play to "see" the world or something.

I think that sort of effect is mostly with the TNG movies, First Contact especially. The Search for Spock and The Voyage Home do feel thematically different to The Wrath of Khan, at least in my opinion. I'm still debating on whether or not I'll watch it. I probably will just because once I...

The "what are you watching" thread

At the moment I'm re-watching (for maybe the third or fourth time?) the classic Star Trek run of TOS through to Voyager, including the movies. Just finished The Wrath of Khan today, and it's still an amazing movie.

Does anyone have any faith in the future of this franchise at this point?

Fallout 4 was pretty abysmal and the Creation/Gamebyro Engine was very much showing its age and limitations even then. The show doesn't bother me as much as what Bethesda put out with Starfield. They're clearly out of energy and the writers do not give a shit anymore. Starfield was supposed to...

    More mutant wildlife

Personally my issue, which is really more of a Bethesda-reusing-things issue than anything else, is the total lack of regional variety. Deathclaws being endemic to the entire former United States for instance is a huge one, instead of some unique new big-bad-mutant-to-fight for the East Coast. I...

Introduce yourself! AKA the "Say hello" thread

Hello! I've been lurking here for at least ten years, and I totally forgot I had made an account back in 2018 until now. Glad to finally participate here.
