As in, it's the game that I just come back to to boot up for a few hours and just fuck around. Hunt or explore. But now with how buggy it is it keeps crashing every 30 minutes/five loads so it's become DOA.

Is it an issue with newer versions of Windows? I haven't played New Vegas since I switched to Windows 10.

Oh yea with every new windows it just got worse. There is a floated 4gig mod either on gog and this other mod on the Nexus I want to try out - will report.

I assume the GOG version comes with a fix for the GFWL shit ready to go?

You'll think but nope. Everytime I grab it, pirate or not, buy it or not, it never goes beyond the launch screen. It seems to be that some people's computers work with it - SOMEONE has to be playing it - but many others do not and gog doesn't have the will or tools to fix it. Nexus stuff doesn't fix it. I just wanted to waste time shooting aliens or w/e.

There was a 'prequel'/Reboot, Cataclysm. It bungled *everything*.

For me the newer Xcoms don't really capture the atmosphere or horror of the original. Xcom 2 when all was said and done felt really bloated feature wise filled with unneeded fluff instead of focusing on the core gameplay and premise. Both games tried to be cinematic which got annoying quickly. So many cut scenes and the characters would not shut the fuck up.
