Honestly... I have never thought to compare the two because they are no even remotely the same but I don't really know which one I find to be worse... (I really REALLY do not like Oblivion or Fallout 76)

Like, Oblivion doesn't have as many scumbaggy monetization practices apart from horse armor and while Fallout 76's gameplay does outstay its welcome I do find it a lot more engaging than Oblivion.

It's just different poisons to me. One is a full fledged game that is so meh that I can't enjoy it because of how hollow it is. The other is a monetization nightmare that plays fine enough if you don't suffer some bullshit lag. Dogshit story and writing, but fun gameplay loop if you wanna turn your brain off and go zombie.

So it's like, which poison do you wanna drink?

That's fair enough, I guess I was just making a sweeping statement on the quality of Bethesda products as a whole, and how much worse they've gotten. You're right though, they're too different to be fair comparisons. Anyway yeah not an Oblivion fan myself either, I'd say Morrowind is my favorite in the Elder Scrolls series. And that's not just because the rpg elements are so much more fleshed out... the world design as a whole feels so much more interesting than Oblivion's generic fantasy europe type environment. Just the general look of the two game worlds is another example of how bad the series was dumbed down starting with Oblivion.

EDIT: sorry pal I missed your edit above. Yep can agree on the "meh"ness of Oblivion being what makes me shut it off. Haven't played 76 personally but have watched others play it, and just looks like a boring loop of shoot, loot, repeat. I can already do that in Fallout 3 if I want to go braindead for an hour or two.

Mine too. Daggerfall's too big for me to invest time into it so I'll never know how good it is.

Yeah I mean it isn't good-good. Yknow. Like, if you like a gameplay loop of something and you desperately want more then that's that. But that's all that is. Nothing more. Nothing less. You like chocolate but you don't have anymore of the chocolate you like? Well, here's this chocolate. It's edible. It's... Sugary enough? It's not really good. But it's ok for the craving of chocolate you're feeling right now.

Same. It's a shame because Daggerfall has the Hammerfell region which design-wise I really like. I like the middle-eastern inspired architecture and I'm a sucker for desert environments, I really wish there were more open-world rpgs that explored that sort of environment as opposed to more northern climes. Just can't spare the time for Daggerfall... adult life is no fun man.

Yeah that's fair enough, there are definitely times when I get home from work and am too wrecked to do anything other than fire up the console and blast baddies without more thought, I can see how 76 would be ok for that. I just personally prefer Fallout 3 for my mindless shooting because at least it still has some scraps of rpg left in there that can give me a bit more to work with if I load up the save the next morning with a bit more brainpower available.
Then again, if my brain is switched back on I'll probably just boot up NV instead

Lots of games I feel that way about. it's honestly the biggest reason I don't buy more stuff. I have such enormous backlogs to work through. It took me SEVEN YEARS to get through my gaming backlog. I'm on comic backlog now. It's yuge.

Yeah its one of the things thats keeping me from investing in a newer generation console... just dont think I'd have the time for it, at least I know the older games I've already played and can pick them up easily without having to spend extra time learning new mechanics and such.

EDIT: what sort of comics are you reading pal? I don't think I've picked up one since the 90s I remember liking "The Spirit", the private investigator guy, I think his comics were having a brief reboot around then if I remember right.

Yeah, games basically try to inflate their game time to justify their pricepoints at this point and to me it just means games take too long.
It's easier to just replay old games. Give it a few years and an old game is ready to replay.

Yknow, the problem now with PC especially is that our libraries does not reset. Back when I was on the PS2 when I got an xbox 360 I could only keep one plugged into my giant box of a tv at time so I opted for the newer console first. But on PC? My libary doesn't shrink. Ever. It grows. And it's grown so much I don't know how to fit in time to everything.

Time... It's such a valuable resources...

I just finished Claymore. A great manga about petite girls with powers fighting monsters that later turn into one hell of a lot corruption and intrigue. But right now I'm reading Hellboy and BPRD (both in the same universe). I got it off of Humble Bumble and it's uh... Like 120+ volumes. Not chapters, volumes.

It is one HELL of a journey to go on. And it's great!

I would suggest Claymore for a more streamlined read. It's not that super long (152+ chapters).
While it starts kinda "meh" and forgettable if you keep with it it grows on you as the world is developed and the characters get more intriguing.

Ah I'm not familiar with those, although my comic book experience is very limited. 120 volumes sounds like one heck of an undertaking though! Hope you enjoy it.

Problem I've had is, not being much of a tech guy myself, it can sometimes be an absolute pain to get older games working on modern computers. I don't play many PC games these days because most of the ones I like are from back in the day and my pea-brain cant always get the settings right to run them. At least with a console you can just throw the disk in and play. Plus there's just something about the couch, as opposed to a swivel chair, thats always appealed to my butt more.
