LR got worse writing and suchs but there is just more to do where the major part of the vanilla game feels empty due to time limmitations, For example there is little to nothing in the south, north west and north east of the map with maybe 1 location worth visiting and the strip being really.. Well stripped!

Because New Vegas is not a theme park where there's always something to do in every corner. Sometimes areas just have nothing and that's how it is. It gives me a sense world building by telling me someone got here before me. You may find it boring but i don't.
The DLC are confined areas, of course they are gonna feel like there's more to do.

You also do know that you can't get quests depending on your standing with certain factions? What might be nothing for a character, it can be several quests for another.
