on a serious note the original Deus Ex had broken stealth mechanics and it was still a better stealth game than AssCreed, to say nothing of actual masterpieces like the first 2 Thief games
Everyone know MGS3 is the best stealth game.
I've never considered Ass Creed as a stealth game. For me, it's always been the Thief trilogy, classic Splinter Cell and the Hitman games.
It's because people don't play stealth games. I know Dishonored is a "stealth" game but it's more of a stay crouched version of something like Bioshock imo lol. I liked Dishonored but I don't know how it's comparable to Thief.
It's comparable to Thief to those who never actually played it yet claim they had, Dishonored is much more of steampunk batman game than a Thief game.
It's probably the only stealth game those people know.
I remember some people saying the newer Splinter Cell games are amazing stealth games because you don't have to use stealth.
What the fuck kinda logic is that? I love this genre because it allows me to play it like it isn't this genre.
MGS5 also allow you to go non-stealth, but generally you don't want to because you want to kidnapping every single soldiers and take away everything that's not nail down, best modern Theif game ever.
You can go non stealth in Dishonored but you get the worst ending.
I kinda like the darker ending for Dishonored. Rats cleanse the filth of the slums and Emily gets a sense of the real world and grows up for her role. That, and all the cool stuff is locked behind lethal play.
The worst ending is when you also let Emily die.
Doesn't that ending pretty much require the player to make the effort to not save her?
You can get it if you get the Windblast power and then throw Havelock off the tower along with Emily. It's quite humorous.
Pretty much falls under putting in the work to make sure you get that ending. Even so, what a shit guard Corvo is if he lets Emiy die. Maybe they were right to lock him up.
You can save her despite your chaos levels if you sneak under the structure they're standing on and execute him from behind or something.
You can stop time, kill him from the front and then pick her up and prevent her from falling. There are lots of solutions. Also shoting him a sleep dart works. I liked the rat power on the first game on my chaos runs.
Slow time is probably the most direct way to do it. Just slash his neck and grab the girl before he can even finish his words. Or possess him and force him into jumping off.
Edit: beat me to it.
I love the older Splinter Cell games, especially trying to play them with as little kills/K.O's as possible.
@a721402 There's one reason why you'd want to remain stealthy in this game: Too many kills and The Sorrow will get you.
Well that and getting no alerts means stealth camo.
Dishonored sounds like a really good immersive sim.
Its actual stealth mechanics still felt weak tho, especially when compared to original Thief games. It only seems to have the basic "crouch and you won't get seen" thing that most stealth systems in other games have but with more agility and the powers , especially blink, could remove the need of a Thief like stealth approach.
I may be wrong of course since I've only played a couple of hours of it and it may improve later in some of the bigger levels.
There's an ingame achievement for completing the whole thing with just blink. Fun challenge.
"Finish the game without purchasing any supernatural powers or enhancements, besides Blink"
This one? I did that one. It was fun. I also intended to do no alerts and no kill runs but I can only replay a linear game so many times in a row lol. I really did like Dishonored though.
It is the best stealth game they bothered to play.
Dishonored 2 even has a mode where you do away with all powers altogether, you don't even get blink or the vines.
