South America was always going to be ours to control. As soon as Spain pulled out actually. Not saying it is right but it is obvious. South America is the new Africa. Quick! Someone else intervene so we can have another war.

We're not doing this for the Oil. You probably think Iraq II was for the oil. No, this is just a war to show the American people 'we're so tough woooo the other president was a weak shit'. Venezuela's shit oil is what got them into this mess in the first place, the US doesn't need or want it. It's all politics.

Hell, the 'real' Oil War's we've had have been started by someone else lusting for oil, not the US. Saddam in Iraq I. Japan in the Pacific war. Whatever the fuck happened in the Chaco war. Etc.

Do tell me why the USA needs shitty, sub-par Latino shit oil when we're frakking our countryside enough and provide our own oil? Or, hell, tell me where the Iraq oil went - oh right, it was bidded off to the dutch and Chinese and the Iraqi government owns it. It's not for oil. It never has been. It's for power. In 03 and now.

Hate to pop the bubble, but it IS for oil. "For power" IS "for oil". Yes, the Iraqi government owns the oil, they're not taking off with the barrels, but they installed a puppet gvt IN Iraq that offers *favorable trading conditions* by coersion (as in, by having been placed there as a puppet gvt)

Sure, it is a power statement, but it is also entirely practical and economically rewarding. They won't load up trucks with "crappy venezuelan oil" (if the oil is crude btw, then all oil is "crappy" in this condition), but they will depose Maduro and replace him with a *more favorable puppet gvt* that will allow for "unreasonably favorable" trade.
