    The way I see it, he spent all his time either imprisoned or crusading and never actually ran England. Kind of a... shit king. The people liked him, presumably because of his martial prowess, but I dunno. Other people balanced war and governance better in my opinion, such as Julius Caesar. Richard I just made war and never really governed.

    I heard he had a super underrated guy to do it for him. Surely with such prowess in the family, he could just go away and win wars (or....not)

    And that’s fair, but then that regent is the real king here. Richard was first and foremost a warrior, and I feel like that’s what he should be remembered as.

    I don't know. Isn't it a good sign of a ruler to leave things to someone who's capable if you can't do it while you go and do what you can do best? There have been plenty of rulers who thought they could do it all. And then failed.

    It’s a fair point, Crni, I just feel as though Richard is treated as though he DID, rather than as being simply a warrior with a skilled regent.
