It spends the first 10 minutes trying to convince you that it isn't clown make up, but rather "War Paint", like, Holy shit, HILARIOUS.

It's because those movies have no sense of humor at all in them. They were made to not be like the one's in the 90's.

I can't watch that trilogy anymore because Batman sounds like he removed his tonsils with a grinding wheel. The best Batman so far is Ben Affleck, unfortunately he stars in a shitty movie. Only a couple more days and we should know who's the best Joker.

Meh. I love Burton's Batman movie, I probably watched it a hundred times or more as a kid because there wasn't anything else to do around the house, but the chemical bath Joker always felt way too cartoonish to me.

I don't really see where the movie acts embarrassed about the clown thing though. The black mob boss calls Joker "clown" a few times and Jokers men are referred as clowns by SWAT a few times.

But the cops and the mob boss are the ones who DON'T GET HIM, MAAAAAAN. The mob boss even gets killed for not getting him, man.

Even ASBAR made fun of the Bat-voice.

To be honest, I don’t think the Batman gets Joker either. That’s part of the point; Joker’s Machiavellian “one bad day away from being me” philosophy is one that most characters in that film can’t come to terms with.

Is it pretentious bullshit that no one else thinks like that? Yes. But I don’t think the film is trying to sell the Joker as cool, more trying to sell him as having a point. Which, depending on what you believe, he may or may not.

They redesigned him to look all grungy with a glassgow smile and casted a young pretty boy, of course they were trying to sell him as cool. They are just rethreading the speech from the Killing Joke, and while the Killing Joke presented the Joker as pitiful in it's storyline, this one instead tries to sell him as cool and edgy. The Killing Joke wasn't humorless either.
