I got that vibe more from Leto’s joker, but then Leto was derivative of Ledger.
Leto was the small brother of the guy who listens to Linkin Park who also listens to a lot of Youtube rappers.
I can see it.
Heath Ledger's Joker worked perfectly for the rather straightforward action movie he was in. You get to see him for what? Twenty minutes in total? Joaquin's Joker IS the movie, from start to finish, which I think is a feat Heath Ledger would not have been able to pull off.
And everytime I see this scene (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Bd5a_qR33i4) and this scene (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JKSottBl7ow), I fucking hate DC for not giving Affleck his standalone Batman movie.
The bad guy should have been a serial killer, maybe the first incarnation of a future DC villain, but still without a suit. That's what's gonna kill the 2021 Batman movie btw: too many clowns in stupid Halloween costumes. It's what makes most Marvel movies totally unenjoyable to me: it's like Trick or Treat with grownups. It's feels wrong.
Overstuffing comics like that feels fucked up too, in my opinion. It’s why I’ve always hated ensemble comics like JLA (with some notable exceptions, like the JSA arc “Return of Hawkman”)
