I never liked the Elder Scrolls design of "every character is a character" because that just means a sea of meaningless characters. Quantity over quality. And that's what I'm getting from ATOM.
But boy oh boy did the writer behind the game love writing, so much so that he/she/it could not fucken stop. So every character has 4 generic questions to ask but those 4 questions can lead to actual infromation of importance, quests or rewards. Meaning I feel compelled to have to click through all of it.
Combat is awful. Simple ass. I think Dead State has better and more enjoyable combat and Dead State's combat is generic and boring as shit. But at least in Dead State you get weapons and ammunition at a decent pace.
The game takes itself too seriously for my taste. Maybe it's cause I'm not a russophile but the whole grim-serious slav realism is fucking boring to me. I want a bit of flare. A bit of zing. Something that pops. And from what I experience nothing in the game "pops".
But the biggest issue of all that I see with it is that there isn't anything that 'hook' me. I just finished Arcanum right, and objectively speaking it is a terrible game. But... Something about it just hit that spot.
And for me, ATOM does not hit the spot. I've played up to doing the factory mission of investigating a farm and I'm so insanely bored with the game cause every go damn time I have to deal with a bunch of useless shit dialogue cause the writer got overcaffinated.
As if you liked any games these days. I don't remember seeing you say you liked playing a game in years.
Don't torture yourself, if you get bored playing a game, then stop and play a different game until you find one that you have fun playing. I would be a much more miserable person if I played games that bore me.
