Fallout: New Vegas 2 - Some Chris Avellone Twatter Q&A

Seeing this written out like an interview really drives home how terrible twitter is as a platform for in-depth discussion. I had to keep reminding myself it was just a social media thread.

Fallout 76 – Invaders from Beyond: Aliens are back on March 1

Yeah, definitely easter egg territory. This is about the same as making a Star Trek DLC. Hardly matters for something like 76, though. I wouldn't expect a consistent setting from a company that probably wishes it could make Fortnite.

    Fallout TV Series Begins Production

Then I say just take No Country For Old Men and add some CG piles of junk in the background. Maybe a VATS noise when he shoots the dog.

    Fallout TV Series Begins Production

I haven't read The Witcher books, but mangling the source material seems to be the standard approach. That's apparently what Game of Thrones did, and from what I saw of the recent Wheel of Time adaptation, they weren't even trying to tell the same story.

    Fallout TV Series Begins Production

They write an unrelated story, put the brand name and retrofuture skin on it, and throw in some other things that are popular at the moment. That's what frequently happens even with properties that do have a deep narrative. All they really need from the IP is the brand recognition that comes...

    Fallout TV Series Begins Production

I predict it will be terrible, but some people will like it.

New trailer for Ashes Afterglow released

Nice! I think I was looking for a tutorial like this ages ago.

New trailer for Ashes Afterglow released

    I should probably do that.

New trailer for Ashes Afterglow released

Thanks! No rush. I'm definitely curious about all that, though, and especially the technical limitations, since I follow Doom modding, but don't know much about that side of it. But the mods that I have seen which add Strife-style dialogue are some of the most interesting to me. It's nice to...

    Mechajammer (formerly Copper Dreams)

Glad I watched that video. I've been beating my head against that intro area for the past day or two.

New trailer for Ashes Afterglow released

I'm curious to know more about the reasoning for this. Is it not considered a strength because of technical limitations? Or not the artistic focus? Personally, I would love to see more Doom conversions that use dialogue as much or more than Ashes, in the vein of Strife I guess. Especially since...

The future of Fallout - IGN Interview with Todd Howard

I won't be surprised - or upset - if I'm dead before another Fallout game gets released. They just announced yet another version of Skyrim, where you can pay for features that have already been available as mods for many years.

New trailer for Ashes Afterglow released

Gorgeous environments. I still need to finish 2063, but Ashes might be my favorite post-apoc setting in a long while.

Some Chris Avellone shenanigans on twatter

There were some of the same people, but yes, Black Isle didn't exist yet, so Fallout 1 was developed by Interplay. I guess that could be considered nitpicky, but it seems weird to credit a studio with a product that was made before the studio existed, when those people worked for another studio...

Some Chris Avellone shenanigans on twatter

I guess there are a lot of fans who haven't followed Sawyer's blog, or done their research. Or maybe there are new fans jumping in, which would be cool. Although I'm not sure where they would get the impression that Avellone was the lead writer... It still bugs me how often even knowledgeable...

Some Chris Avellone shenanigans on twatter

If he buys it, the next game will be about how House was right about everything, and also super nice and attractive, not a husk at all.

    Death Trash hits Early access

The slang and truncated dialogue seemed purposeful to me. Characters feel like they are supposed to be unsophisticated, almost child-like. And I think the simple choices are a combination of that, and just the realities of a limited scope. Feels like the game leans into that crutch to a sort of...

    Death Trash hits Early access

I'm enjoying it so far. It's definitely not trying to be Fallout, mechanically or in its world-building, but the inspiration is there, in a good way. It feels simpler, maybe, but it is an indie game. Walking into a town gave me Fallout vibes. It's weird to play a story-driven RPG in EA...

    Fallout: London trailer

Yeah, I'm not a fan of the Tomorrowland + radiation theme park approach to Fallout. Earlier joking aside, I do think it's tough to make these nods to architecture and aesthetics while still maintaining something that feels like original Fallout to me. And I don't mean because Fallout has to be...
