Try Illusion/Conjuration. Can be fun, but you feel kinda detached from everything happening. Simply an observer. Could also try a fighter build with alteration maybe. The magic will compliment the build instead of replace it. Warrior scholar type thing.

Not similar enough to be compared imo. Navigable world maps are nice but it wont have the effect of having to trek the wasteland. Going from one major sttlement to another and it being a big deal that you can't just fast travel between or cover in 10 minutes would be good in its own way. Throw...
