I'm not a big Hack and Slash fan, but I hear PlatinumGames's work is good. I've specifically heard good things about Bayonetta and especially Metal Gear Rising: REVENGEANCE.
You know what? I honestly don't doubt that it sold well. I'd be very surprised if it didn't do well. It's a massively hyped sequel. It's sold like hotcakes.
The problem is that there were also a lot more bad games on average than any of the Wii's competitors, and they unfortunately overshadowed the good. It's a shame, too. There are enough good games to satisfy most people, but all everybody thinks about is the shovelware.
Both the Gamecube and the Wii U had pretty good libraries (especially from first party developers.) The Wii had... problems. There were plenty of good games (again, most first party titles, Sonic Colors, Smash Bros. Brawl, Okami, et cetera.)

Well, there's the Machete Order (IV V II III VI VII VIII IX,) release order (self explanatory) or numbered order (I through IX in order.) I personally prefer release order, though I know some people can't stand not using the numbered or Machete orders.
He's not saying it's a great addition to the franchise because it barely resembles the franchise. He's saying it's a great game in general because it barely resembles the franchise.
Personally, I can't wait to try it. It looks awesome. It's probably the first game I'll get once I get a PC...
