How Does The Forum Feel About Fallout 3 Fans?

What do I think of Fallout 3 fans? I don't, really. When you were alive, did you think about cows? Heh... ya know, if one got killed, I bet you didn't cry, but, ya know, you're not out there slaughterin' them for sport, either. But they get caught in the crossfire sometimes. Ah, man we got our...

Introduce yourself! AKA the "Say hello" thread

The correct term is "Glittering gems of hatred" or "eleven angry guys on a website". I also just realised I skipped doing this thread, so I've lurked here for close on two decades - since it was brand new - but never felt the need to sign up, until someone (Hassknecht, I think, but I don't...

The Brotherhood of Steel as a threat to an Independent Vegas

The BoS isn't really a threat. They could become an inconvenience in future, but no more than that. They're well on their way to extinction, and they're not particularly highly skilled in either combat or tech anymore. They're having problems with Radscorpion stings, are entirely incapable of...

    Fallout 1.5: Resurrection

I think The Saviour was let down by English-as-a-second-language more than character writing, per se. I could be wrong, but I'd put at least £20 on it being a lot better in Czech. Other than that, I'd agree with the review. Whatever way you slice it, it's a proper Fallout game.

Which ethnic and cultural groups have had it the worst on Earth?

Classic Fallout Fans, obviously. Nothing any cultural group has ever faced in history comes close to the torture of being presented with Fallout PoS, and Fallout Tactics as precursers to a Fallout sequel, before being heartbroken by Van Buren, and then having Bethesda shit down out throats with...

    Your earliest memory about gaming?

We were loaded until I was about six, and then we were poor. So I had the computer, but couldn't afford any games for it. If I wanted to play something, I had to write it myself. I could have ended up a game addict too, but instead I ended up something even worse - a programmer.

    Is New Vegas a Western?

I wear a poncho in real life, and I've never felt out of place playing Fallout.

    My defense of fallout 3

In Arcanum, there's this bit where you've got to get in to a mansion belonging to a famous industrialist, and speak to him. The guards won't let you in as you're a security threat, but they offer you the opportunity to prove yourself by performing a task for them. If you don't want to do that...

    New Vegas with OSVR

Bit of a longshot, but if anyone knows, chances are they're reading NMA at least occasionally...is it possible to make New Vegas work with an OSVR headset? Via various methods, I can make it work in 3D (which is still a pretty cool experience), but I can't get headtracking working. The OSVR I...

    Please insert Fallout tactics CD

That's the Microsoft Visual C++ runtime...but a very old version. I think that's the 2003, which doesn't come standalone - you have to get it with the .net 1.0 framework (if it's still possible to get the .net 1.0 framework, and if it still works on a modern OS). But you should still be able...

    Please insert Fallout tactics CD

I'm not familiar with that particular release, but did you follow the thread to the end, or just give up when the links are dead? Because Patch 1.27 is the no-cd patch, and running in XP compatibility mode as an administrator should fix it 95% of the time.

Request for advice: should I get a Super Nes Mini?

Some conversions were better than others, but yeah, PAL gamers were screwed back then on all systems. Nothing on the SNES felt as bad as Sonic 1 - though emphasis on felt. Some games were just as bad, but they didn't rely on speed as the core gimmick.

Nicest Place to Live in the Wasteland?

Jakobstown. As well as being a perfect, idyllic place to live geographically, Marcus is the only person in the Fallout universe who has any business running a town. True, he's pretty shit at it, and keeps failing, but it would be good while it lasted. Even with the Nightkin on edge. Once...

    Future Fallout Power Armor Ideas

The Brotherhood is dead, or dying. Lost Hills is gone, the Mojave chapter is gone. The Enclave are gone. NCR demonstrably can't repair power armour. If the Courier happened to form the NCR/Brotherhood truce, the Brotherhood reclaims all the power armour anyway. There's none left for you...

Request for advice: should I get a Super Nes Mini?

The pre-made kits are nice because they come with joypads, HDMI cables, power adapters, SD cards, retro-ish cases, etc so they're saving you fiddly bullshit in collecting the hardware, but they're not really saving you much from a setting it all up perspective. It'll cost more than buying the...

    What "New" Fallout Fans Want?

The aesthetic. That's what they want. For me, an RPG is in the same category as a novel. It's a way to tell a story from multiple different perspectives, requring detail, subtlety, and finesse. For them, an RPG is in the same category as a film. It's a way to sit back, relax, and enjoy a...

    Future Fallout Power Armor Ideas

Power Armour doesn't make sense any more. The bombs dropped centuries ago, it's all broken. All of it. At best, you could find some shitty NCR salvaged armour that doesn't really work anymore, forcing you to begin again, let go. Or alternatively, give us a massive quest line where you hear...

    Your earliest memory about gaming?

I remember playing Jet Set Willy at my uncle's house when I was four. We actually had the exact same computer at home, and most of the exact same games, but I specifically remember playing it at his house. Brookside (now defunct UK soap opera) was on the telly, and my parents insisted we were...

    New Retcon?

The guys who made Fallout Nevada. The guys who made Fallout: Resurrection would also count, but they made a game past tense, whereas Nevada are still making one, present sense.
