Steam sale is still going on, what did YOU buy or what are you thinking of picking up?

West Of Loathing. Kingdom of Loathing is as addictive as crack, and even though it's a ridiculous, goofy spoof made with stick figures, it's still a better RPG than most AAA titles. Not sure how that'll hold up for West of Loathing, but it's worth a punt with 25% off.

    Your Wasteland 3 Wishlist

I waited 26 years for a sequel to Wasteland, and when it finally arrived, it gave me motion sickness (a good metaphor for the whole RPG renaissance, but in the case of Wasteland, I mean it literally). I'm not entirely sure what was wrong with it, but there's something dodgy about that camera...

Whats the best part of Classic Fallout?

In my first playthrough of Fallout 2 (which I played before Fallout 1, despite owning Fallout 1 first for reasons I don't recall), I became a slaver because I thought I had to, then I accidentally blew up the Gecko power plant because I thought that's what Lynette wanted, and I thought I had to...

    New Retcon?

Meh, either way, if I'm expected to take someone's Fallout lore seriously just because they happen to be a content creator, they first have to create some Fallout related content. Nevada Band do. Bethesda do not.

    New Retcon?

It doesn't matter what Bethesda or any other fan made spin off says. Nevada Band Studio is the custodian now, they set the canon.

Josh Sawyer talks New Vegas on IGN unfiltered

New Vegas certainly didn't feel like it was aimed at us - though it did manage to be the best game since Troika died despite that. If Sawyer's comments are accurate, and New Vegas really is what they make when they're aiming for the Bethesda crowd - they can dumb it down, but not by enough...

General Gaming Megathread: What are you playing?

Chuckie Egg. I used to think Arcanum was my favourite game, and objectively, it still is. But more than 30 years later, I'm still playing Chuckie Egg so that has to be the number one. Whenever I'm just sat around, sat on a train, or waiting for the postman, or whatever, I'm playing Chuckie...

    Most Hated Fallout Character

He repulses me in the same way VV does in VTM:B. They're not the nice, caring people they project to the outside world - they're manipulating you with a facade of altruism. It's not what they're doing - which is no worse than what everyone else is doing - it's the way they're doing it. I'll...

    Most Hated Fallout Character

Tandi. Always hated her, ever since she was a kid. I only saved her for Aradesh's sake. I wasn't surprised at all to discover she became dictator for life President of NCR. Daniel, in Honest Hearts. Condescending, patronising twat, abusing the similarities between their religion and his to...

How did you discover Fallout ?

I just went to a shop, and the rest was inevitable. Let's face it, who wouldn't pick that box up and buy it?

Sequels that are at least debatbly better than their predecessors? (All genres and mediums)

Blackadder on the telly. The first series was just awful in every way, series two and three are where it really worked, then it fell into self reference and died in the fourth. F1 '97 on the PSX. While it had a significantly shitter two player mode, the single player game was a huge...

What was the Funniest Argument You've had with a Bethesda Apologist?

My nephew is exactly the kind of person Fallout 3 was aimed at (ie, a child) so I didn't go too hard on him, but after convincing him to try the originals, he was pissed off at how completely different they were to Fallout 3 in every way. But it still took several days for him to understand I...

    10 best games.

I know this is an RPG forum with pretty niche tastes, but SmashTV is by far the most mainstream/least obscure game on the list. I'd be surprised if most people didn't know it. Oh, I remember that. It took four weeks pocket money for me to save up for that on cassette. I bought it from the...

    10 best games.

    1. Chuckie Egg 2. Arcanum 3. Planescape: Torment 4. Fallout 5. Vampire The Masquerade: Bloodlines 6. Fallout 2 7. Fallout Resurrection 8. SmashTV 9. Sorcery Plus 10. Jacaranda Jim From what I've seen, I strongly suspect Fallout Nevada belongs on here too - but I haven't played it yet. (Proper...

Request for advice: should I get a Super Nes Mini?

For the same kind of money, you can get a Raspberry Pi, install RetroPie, plug it in to your telly and play everything, not just the SNES. Give or take the form factor, the Pi is a much better choice. To be honest, I still kinda want a mini-SNES, but really, it's difficult to justify it just...

    Post Terrible Fallout Faction Ideas

A group of Vault Dwellers who gamble their vault in a game of cards with nothing to gain, and everything to lose, then fill half the vault with concrete, and turn the other half into a novelty hotel.

Gaping plot holes in New Vegas

Yeah, that ^ Not using the Vertibirds isn't so much a plot hole as it is NCR summarised in a single sentence.

    I like fallout 3

I like Vampire The Masquerade: Redemption, so I understand what it's like to be a Fallout 3 fan. I survived being a VTM:R fan by not going to White Wolf forums and pretending it had anything in common with the World of Darkness other than the name. Similarly, as long as you don't frequent...

what is your favorite unique weapon in Fallout New Vegas?

Christine's Sniper Rifle. I didn't try New Vegas until much, much later than the rest of you, so I didn't play the DLC in released order - I played them in the order I found them. Old World Blues, Broken Hearts, Dead Money, Lonesome Road. When I got the sniper rifle, it wasn't really that...
