No Man's Sky is a huge (marketing) success

He should have just stayed silent - it's a hell of a lot more "unprofessional" to make a bunch of promises that you can't possibly deliver on, release a broken empty shell of a product anyway, and then play the victim when the shitstorm lands on your head. Nothing like swindling your customers...

    Skyrim Special Edition First Impressions

It might be kind of funny to sneak over to Matty's little Safe Space at Sugarbombed to see how badly he's being beaten up by his fellow special snowflakes, but I just don't have the stomach for it tonight. :yuck:

    Skyrim Special Edition First Impressions

This is as close as he'll ever come to leveling harsh criticism at Bethesda.

    Skyrim Special Edition First Impressions

A few mores step on the road toward paid mods were taken by Bethesda with this release. ETA - I think it's kind of funny how Matty and some of these others are acting all shocked that the remaster doesn't have anything in it besides a few slightly improved textures and lighting effects. Did...

    Skyrim Special Edition First Impressions

At this point I wouldn't even say it's nice to have if you get a PC copy for free, especially if you've spent a bunch of time modding your original 32-bit game to get it looking and playing like you want it. Maybe when the updated SKSE rolls out so you can get some of those mods working with...

    Skyrim Special Edition First Impressions

Even Bethesda's most loyal little YouTube lapdog, Safe Space Matty, says it isn't worth 60 bucks on console if you've played Skyrim before. He let it drop almost immediately in the video that he got his advance copy two weeks before release - something tells me that'll change with the next...

    Skyrim Special Edition First Impressions

What, you mean you didn't sign up for the incessant stompy-foot demands to port your mods to XBone NOW!!!, nor the death threats, nor the watching your work get stolen and being uploaded to Beth.aids, nor the new duties as bug squasher and unpaid content creator? How elitist and PC Master Race...

"Bethesda Outline Anti-Consumer Review Policy" by Rock, Paper, Shotgun

McDonalds makes those crappy burgers because there's a huge market for them, but they're not telling you that what they're selling you is a five course gourmet meal. Bethesda is.

The true flaw of Fallout 4 by C.T. Phipps - The Halfassedry

My biggest complaint all along with Fallout 4 is that it had no direction, no focus, no coherent design philosophy. It's like they all just sat around someone's apartment drinking beer and eating pizza and telling each other the things they thought were "cool" in Borderlands, Minecraft, MMOs...

"Bethesda Outline Anti-Consumer Review Policy" by Rock, Paper, Shotgun

And my point is, though I'm probably not making it well at all, is that the harming consumers bridge was crossed (and burned) a long time ago when the "journalists" abandoned any pretense of being on the consumer's side and instead chose to become extensions of the studios' marketing...

"Bethesda Outline Anti-Consumer Review Policy" by Rock, Paper, Shotgun

Sorry, but I can't (and won't) muster up any sympathy for the "journalists" here - they willingly crawled into bed with the people over whom they claim to be the "watchdogs" and "advocates of the gamers" like some two-dollar streetwalker. If all of a sudden the Toddster and his cronies start...

"Bethesda Outline Anti-Consumer Review Policy" by Rock, Paper, Shotgun

Under ordinary circumstances I'd agree, but it's not like we could trust these clowns in games "journalism" to tell us about buggy, broken or just plain bad games anyway, even if they had all the time in the world to play them before release. It doesn't matter how badly Bethesda treats them -...

"Bethesda Outline Anti-Consumer Review Policy" by Rock, Paper, Shotgun

So now the "journalists" have less time to brag at all the parties about the advance copies of the games they've gotten while putting the finishing touches on their pre-written "reviews" which all say, "10/10, a near perfect video game!!!" Boo fucking hoo.

Why would you play Fallout 3 today?

I've got a lot of other games that I would want to play (or finish) before replaying FO3.

General Gaming Megathread: What are you playing?

I've barely played the second game myself. My real introduction to the series was Witcher 3, which IMO is one of the best games ever made. I do want to go back and play 2, though.

Hands on look at new skyrim "remaster"

Compared to Fallout 4, where your "dialog" choices were Yes -> No-> Sarcastic -> Hate Newspapers, and the shooting started 90% of the time as soon as you exited dialog no matter which option you chose, I'd say yes. Granted, that's setting the bar on the ground ...

General Gaming Megathread: What are you playing?

Haven't completely made up my mind yet, but I'm leaning Scoia'tel, possibly Neutral. The more I learn about the Order in this game the less I like them, and having already dealt with them in W3, I wasn't real inclined to side with them anyway.

How many of us actually finished FO4?

I got around 60 hours into it twice, and just couldn't make myself continue with either character. I have since wiped the game and all my saves off my HDD.

Hands on look at new skyrim "remaster"

Well, they've succeeded at dumbing down their games to a ridiculous level, so why stop there and neglect to dumb down the mods as well?

General Gaming Megathread: What are you playing?

I started playing Witcher 1 recently after finishing off the books, a lot of that reading done during the time I was waiting for my power to come back on after the hurricane. I've made it a good way through Chapter 2 of the game by now. It's a good game once you get used to how the combat...
