No, I would have taken it exactly the same way. Because it's just stupid and pointless, with nothing whatsoever to redeem it in terms of humor or cultural relevance.
My top 10, in no particular order -
1. Fallout: New Vegas
2. Fallout 2
3. Fallout
4. The Witcher 3
5. Borderlands 2
6. Borderlands
7. Civilization IV (with the Beyond the Sword Expansion)
8. Civilization V (with the Brave New World Expansion)
9. Morrowind
10. Doom II
Bethesda - "Hey, Borderlands 2 had bandits that flew around on half-assed gyrocopters called Buzzards, so we need something like that in our game too!"
So now you have raiders who can fly vertibirds because "Itz teh Coolzzzz!"
One slight problem - Borderlands 2 is a goofy shooter that...
Either that, or someone suggested putting it in during one of those meetings, and then someone else said, "Wait, that gun was in FO1 and FO2, and Obsidian put it in New Vegas!", so they decided to scrap the whole idea.
I can't believe (well, actually I can) that Bethesda puts in a whole faction of enemies that are pretty much a direct ripoff of the replicants in Blade Runner, but doesn't give us the gun from the movie to shoot them with. That's not even low hanging fruit - that's shit that's fallen off the...
Those are great mods and I use them in my NV games all the time, but you will get serious framerate problems and frequent crashes in Freeside if you use them. Followers' pathing also goes crazy in Freeside with them. If you use them, do yourself a huge favor and make sure you use NVAC as well...
I will never forget the infamous 1.2 patch in Skyrim, the one that caused dragons to fly backward and completely broke all player elemental resistances. They tried to laugh it off, but couldn't push the 1.3 patch out the door fast enough.
Just imagine how much bigger the download would be if they recorded PC dialog for all 20 possible races and genders in The Elder Scrolls. I'll bet it would be at least double the FO4 download size of 25 GB. Not to mention, all the extra money Bethesda would have to shell out for voice acting...
Point taken, but I have to counter that a lot of FO4 players may not be aware there are any mods at all being released yet, and the real fanatic Toddlickers seem to be the noobs to the franchise, who may not even know the Nexus exists yet. Let's revisit those DL numbers in a month or so. :)
I...
Glad to hear your cousin is safe.
My aunt and uncle are currently on a river cruise in Europe (the Danube, I think) and had decided to add a few extra days onto the end of their vacation to visit Paris before coming back to the US. I'm guessing that's not going to happen now.
Good news for all Godd Howard acolytes - there's already a mod on the Nexus that lets you get your in-game shrine to His Toddness off to a proper start.

With me and novels, if they haven't gotten me wanting to continue reading by the time I'm 100 pages or so in, they usually don't get finished. It takes me a lot less than 20 hours to read 100 pages. Any game developer who demands the player spend 20 hours of treating the game as a chore...
Blade Runner was released in 1982; the novel it was loosely based on, Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep? by Philip K. Dick, was published in 1968. The second and third Mad Max movies were released in the 1980s (1981 and 1985).
