    Far Harbor Official Discussion

Kind of reminds me of all the recent and utterly pointless remakes of classic 80s movies. Robocop, Total Recall etc. By making them PG-13 and removing all the violence and other themes they basically removed everything that made those films great. Likewise, Fallout has been dumbed down and had...

Can't go taxing the player's brain cells too much, after all!

Yep. Options and different endings, aaah, the golden era of RPGs actually being, you know... RPGs.

    Far Harbor Official Discussion

If you ally them with NCR the NV BoS actually offer protection and help by patrolling the l-15 (in the ending slides, not directly in-game, so technically it's two :) And of course it's debatable exactly which combination of endings could be considered canon. But even there, they only provide...

    Far Harbor Official Discussion

The real beauty is that Elijah could take the Institute without losing a single soldier, simply by using holograms :D Well, he could in one of my playthroughs of NV where I actually decided it might be fun to side with him and blanket the Mojave in the Cloud, mwuahahaa.

Could Synths have worked in the Fallout setting?

    Guys, stop giving them ideas...

Could Synths have worked in the Fallout setting?

I'll be covering Fallout 4 in my next reconstructing series, but my notes for the Institute are basically this so far: So yeah... similar themes, transhumanism, augmentation, ethical medical dilemmas, all sorts would be possible.

    Fallout 4: Exploring Far Harbor

So Vault 118... has some of the worst voice acting I've heard in a long while. This is why player characters shouldn't be voiced. Seriously.

    Far Harbor Official Discussion

lol... so there's an optional part of the opening quest to tell the Railroad/Institute about the colony of synths... and the moment you get there they're just like 'oh we already know, rumours, don't'cha know'. It's like... seriously, Bethesda, how's about NOT giving the characters a copy of the...

Josh Sawyer speaks about a possible future Fallout

I covered aliens in the Zeta section of my post on DLC. http://www.radkatsu.uk/2016/03/reconstructing-fallout-3-part-10/ As said by others, those were largely fun little easter eggs, whereas Bethesda screwed the pooch by showing actual, living aliens. Their very existence as portrayed in both...

Fallout 2 Lore is garbage too...

So? This is an action game with an existing lore and pedigree, and Bethesda are consistently (hoho) crapping all over that. edit: Also, Emil is desperately trying to have a serious story in this game that the player will care about, and that demands internal consistency. Either drop the story...

Fallout 2 Lore is garbage too...

The general point here is that both Fallout 1 and 2 had overall very consistent worlds, so when these occasionally silly points come up that might break some lore or the internal consistency, it's easier to overlook them as simply being fun easter eggs, or a light-hearted joke/scene to balance...

    Fallout 4: Exploring Far Harbor

Like Fallout 3's, couple of those were clearly done by an entirely different team. Funnily enough, that would be Point Lookout and The Pitt. Now we get... Point Lookout The Return. Still, those two FO3 DLCs were considerably better than the base game, so it's probable Far Harbour will be, too...

Is the point of F:NV to "let go of the past?"

It's really a combination of both letting go and beginning again, neither is wholly true without the other. You have to let go to begin again, but at the same time you also need to remember where you came from in order to avoid the mistakes of the past (that's kind of the part most people...

    Why Fo4 fucked Fallout lore

They stated something to that effect, yeah. Basically they discard absolutely everything from old games and just begin each project from scratch. Which would certainly explain some of the reasoning behind disregarding all the good work Obsidian did (that, and a healthy dose of butthurt over...

Fallout 4 - Far Harbor Official Trailer

Well, Nick's personality was based on a real person, so it's feasible the real person Nick is based on had a brother who just so happened to also be downloaded to a synth... or something. Makes about as much sense as the fridge ghoul kid's parents still being alive and right where he left them...
