Actually, you are immortal due to this 'balance'. Adding AP cost to every action taken within the inventory would have prevented the stimpak spam. The initial cost can also ruin the fight if you accidentally press the INV button.

The Courier has his own quest. He's a mercenary, helps out a faction and they aid him. Joining would mean years of patrolling and guarding, and having to be on duty at all times.

I often do. I don't understand why it is constantly simplified. Whilst Civ 5 offered a very interesting combat system, diplomacy and cultural expansion seemed very underdeveloped.

Generally, they stick with filling their land as much as possible with different shacks, houses, bases and enemies. That means you have to stop every few seconds to get out of the car, shoot, loot, and repeat - without getting to enjoy the actual sights. Also, making the game more tedious...

Vehicles? Bethesda's maps are fairly small to begin with so riding around the wasteland will make exploration pretty boring.
