    RAGE: The Thread

That's "ID" and they stopped using it sometime during Wolfenstein 3D or one of the later Commander Keen games. After a quick search you come up with dozens of examples of the blue/yellow "id" logo used for Wolfenstein 3D and all subsequent titles.

    RAGE: The Thread

Why do so many people say this when it's wrong? The company is called id. As in the word "id". Not ID or iD or I.D. And you don't say "eye-dee". It's id software. Their logo has been pretty much the same design forever. The original from the Wolfenstein 3D era:

After 1 week Rage has sold more than 700,000 physical copies across all platforms (not counting Steam).

    Batman: Arkham City

Still haven't gotten more than a few hours into the first one because it's so boring and easy. Great atmosphere and looks. They nailed it using all the voice actors from the animated show. But the core gameplay is so fucking simplistic I don't know how anybody besides console gamers and die hard...

    RAGE: The Thread

I'm halfway through now and there's been at least three different sewer locations to explore and I've returned to each of them two or three times for "kill all mutants" missions. With the various fixes and tweaks applied the game is turning out really good (for me, at least). It's the complete...

    RAGE: The Thread

And that's one of the better looking examples. Almost everything with writing on it is totally illegible. What's pathetic is you *can* make good looking low resolution textures. All they did here was take high res images and downscale them to the point where they lose all detail and turn into...

    RAGE: The Thread

They totally screwed the pooch releasing the PC version with such low resolution textures. I bet if I ripped the game apart few texture images are larger than 256x256. That's Quake 2 era we're talking about. Aside from that the game runs perfectly for me. Controls are very good, no problems...

Sequels that should be f***ing made.

Some pictures of the Duke Nukem Reloaded game that will never be: Main Menu Rocket launcher, shotgun and Pig Cops in-game Another look at Duke They claim it was "90% finished" but the opposite is true. Their single programmer has barely been able to patch a game together. There is...

All D & D classics up to 60% off on GoG.com this weekend

How would you reboot an existing franchise into a new genre?

A reboot can be awesome if developers would stop insulting gamers' intelligence by continuously simplifying everything. I'd like to see more reboots of games that failed or a franchise that ended on a bad note. Master of Orion needs another shot. Freelancer, Doom, Unreal Tournament, Sim City...

    Hard Reset (Wooz's game) revealed

The patch really does improve the game significantly. Even though I already beat it I decided to try another whirl with the "EX Game" thing (start from the beginning with all the gear you had at the end) and the faster weapon switching is a world of difference. Not having to fiddle with console...

    Hard Reset (Wooz's game) revealed

Wooz, tell them this game needs a Killing Floor style coop BADLY. Make a dozen large arena style maps, robots attack in waves and keep getting tougher every round, in between rounds you buy upgrades at the store with the xp picked up from killing everything.

    Hard Reset (Wooz's game) revealed

I'm halfway through now and it's very impressive for a debut title. Graphics are amazing, the setting is great, it runs smoothly and feels right. Unfortunately, it is way too restrictive. Levels are very narrow and loaded with invisible walls in the most ridiculous places. I can understand the...

Can anybody recommend a 'Fallout style' book?

Swan Song isn't too bad. A Canticle for Leibowitz is also good. Both have ups and downs that can easily make or break the story for you. Swan Song is like an easier to get into version of The Stand but with more post nuclear war stuff. It also has some really dopey peace on earth magic...

Syndicate rebooted as (surprise) an FPS

It's easier to get funding for an established franchise name. They can do something entirely new but most publishers won't take the risk.

    Hard Reset (Wooz's game) revealed

This is what I posted at the Steam forums... Also, using the "save" command in the console makes a save point wherever you're standing. Bind it to a key and you have a fully functioning quicksave option. That should be a really easy thing to implement in the control menu and seems to be the...

Syndicate rebooted as (surprise) an FPS

There was a time when people said Fallout was too niche because of its post apocalyptic alternate history 1950's vision of the future.

    Hard Reset (Wooz's game) revealed

Nevermind, Wooz, I figured it out. The console commands magically started working for me. I managed to turn off motion blur and a few other post processing effects I personally can't stand. The game looks and plays so much nicer now.

    Hard Reset (Wooz's game) revealed

Ok. Here's one for you to pass along. Are the console commands disabled or am I retarded? http://pastebin.com/WqepYB7z That's all of the ones I found so far. Changing values works but I don't see anything happening. It appears to be similar to idtech (Quake, Doom 3) with the vid_restart...
