General Gaming Megathread: What are you playing?

Yeah, he sometimes appears in the background of one of the pictures from Animoid Row. His name is also at the shooting range and other characters mention him, although not by name. The game is kind of short, but about the same length as any adventure game of the time. Add onto that the 13...

General Gaming Megathread: What are you playing?

I'm replaying Blade Runner now and goddamn this game is good. I beat it yesterday and immediately started a second playthrough. It's awesome how even if I do things in exactly the same way important parts of the plot are different and in many cases I have no direct control over it.

    Hard Reset (Wooz's game) revealed

The Giant Bomb quick look has me 90% sold. Unless I hear the game runs like shit at release I'll more than likely pick it up.

Lonesome Road delayed and first screenshot

Ask Bill Gates. I have another extreme example: AvP3. Several patches were released for PC while only a few made it to console. Currently both versions of the game deviate so drastically from each other it's like two different experiences. One is halfway decent and playable while the other is...

Lonesome Road delayed and first screenshot

First, the combined billing costs for all the SKU's is around $80,000. If the publisher doesn't think they can make that money back right away they don't release DLC. The timing of other more popular releases or if the previous DLC came out too recently will have an effect. Also, Microsoft has...

It could be the insane certification process Microsoft forces them to go through.

    Norwegian Massacre

I'm not surprised at all by the total lack of acknowledgment the White House is giving this. 80 fucking kids gunned down and one Oklahoma City style bombing, and I don't recall a single person except John Bolton commenting on it.

The best games you never played

I still haven't played Arcanum or Bloodlines.

Unsurprisingly, Duke Nukem Forever reviews are negative

You need to factor in the millions they spent acquiring the license and the millions they spent hyping the game in events around the world. The fact they didn't know the game was so terrible and would fail so badly erases all hope for the future of the franchise and the credibility of the...

Unsurprisingly, Duke Nukem Forever reviews are negative

In its third week DNF sales dropped off the planet. They're not even close to breaking 1 million. At this time after release AvP3 had sold more than twice as many copies and Sega officially didn't find that good enough to continue support with patches or DLC, and canceled the proposed followup...

Unsurprisingly, Duke Nukem Forever reviews are negative

Yup. Today it's hard to believe, but Daikatana had just as many apologists as DNF. All of the reviewers were "haters" and everybody else wasn't a true fps fan. Invisible War had the same treatment. People get so emotionally attached to games they create their own reality.

Unsurprisingly, Duke Nukem Forever reviews are negative

2k is still following through with their reviewer blacklist. Eurogamer was the first to expose them. Anyway, if you ignore DNF's long development time and drama, it doesn't make the game any less terrible. The average person thinks it's shit and they don't know anything about DNF's history...

Unsurprisingly, Duke Nukem Forever reviews are negative

Did you skim through just one or two bogus reviews and assume they all say the same thing? Or more likely are you parroting other blind fanboys' baseless bullshit? The vast majority only briefly mention the development time and failed humor, then go onto much more about what is wrong with DNF...

Unsurprisingly, Duke Nukem Forever reviews are negative

One more thing about DNF that annoys the shit out of me is the almost total lack of music. You can be running around in silence for 10-15 minutes at numerous points throughout the game. During the stupid puzzles all you hear is Duke's jumping grunt sound over and over and over. Or maybe all you...

Unsurprisingly, Duke Nukem Forever reviews are negative

DNF uses a highly modified version of UE2.5. The file formats are changed enough so that the editors cannot open it directly. Right now all people can do is rip content out of the game for use in other mods/games. You cannot reinsert levels, models, textures, etc. back into DNF. Ironically...

Unsurprisingly, Duke Nukem Forever reviews are negative

Hehe. Apparently DNF sucks so bad it's effecting the stock market. http://www.marketwatch.com/story/take-two-hit-by-sales-data-duke-nukem-ratings-2011-06-14?reflink=MW_news_stmp
