Dragon Age II: now more like Mass Effect 2

The only improvement I can tell is that the PC is actually trying to kill something with the swings. DA:O was way to slow in animations, except for the rogue's Momentum-boosted slashes. On the other hand, DAII has way too many area-of-effect skills, everything can hit at least 3 enemies, save...

Dragon Age II: now more like Mass Effect 2

With not enough content to keep it entertaining. As for DAII, I wonder how they went from http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NOESUiptmCM&feature=fvst to The debut trailer was really good, to be honest. Looks like they got lost in concept along the way. And I sure as hell ain't...

Fallout Online Newsletter: The Armageddon Rag #4

Perhaps it is an overstatement, but the newsletter IS the only information about the game so far, at least about the lore. Nothing so far indicates that the game will not have dialogues and descriptions written in similar fashion, which troubles me, since I can't stand any more of such bullshit...

    Guitars

    1) Quality - having a guitar that sounds like shit after 2 years of usage isn't the best thing IMO. Also, high-end guitars really do sound better than the low-end ones. 2) Comfort - some guitars fit your body, other don't. Some make your hand and\or neck hurt, others don't. It's about...

Fallout Online Newsletter: The Armageddon Rag #4

An NPC that talks like this is OK, he's or she's just a nut-job you can laugh at and move on. But a whole game written in gibberish?

    Mass Effect 2

Although I agree that the game is nowhere near the hype created around it, it is passable for a few hours. That, and the fact that there are people enjoying the hell out of it proves that it isn't complete shit, just a very unimaginative, repetitive and dumbed down game trying too hard to be...

    Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim

It certainly looks better than Oblivion, but saying anything about it at this point is rather risky. It would seem that they went in the right direction this time, but hell, who knows? It may be just as lackluster as the Oblivion or Fallout 3. I am happy, though, that people look like people...

Dragon Age II: now more like Mass Effect 2

After playing the demo, I have to agree with basically everything sea said. Combat is way over the top (though more fluent than in Origins), Hawke's voice actors, both male and female, are terrible indeed. Makes me wish for a mute character like the one from previous game. Aside from Varric and...

Holy Crap LA Noir facial technology!

All things said, I still fail to grasp how one can compare LA Noire and Baldur's Gate 2 or any other top-view RPG. LA Noire tries to introduce new technology - perhaps it will add another dimension to modern games. Yet some kind of debate arose and people seem to focused more on "good old times...

Dragon Age II: now more like Mass Effect 2

I was pretty optimistic about DAII at first, but now my concern has grown....the game looks silly most of the time. I don't even know what are they aiming for? Comic style? Perhaps, but it doesn't quite click with me. I really liked the direction where the first one went and hoped they'd improve...

Holy Crap LA Noir facial technology!

True, after seeing the trailer I am quite worried that it will look like "walk 5 meters, cutscene, walk another 5 meter, shoot, cutscene, walk 10 meters, clue, cutscene". I have enough of it after Mafia 2. Anyway, it's good that they try to make a solid detective game with open-world elements.

Holy Crap LA Noir facial technology!

Pff, Baldur's Gate 2 isn't the best example of peak gaming quality. I myself finished it once and will never touch it again. Also, just because new tech aren't done *right*, doesn't mean developers shouldn't try new stuff. "I don't like new technology because I prefer using my imagination"...

Holy Crap LA Noir facial technology!

I like the idea of the game much, but I am also worried that the facial expressions will be in a fashion "Look NOW - I'm making my guilty face so it means I'm lying". What I mean is that it may be too easy to read people depending on the facial expressions.

    Alpha Protocol

I've been meaning to try Alpha Protocol some day or another, but am worried about the supposed bugs. Is there a community patch or something similar I should definetly play with?

General Gaming Megathread: What are you playing?

I agree, but I simply like when people stick to boundaries designed by the developers. Otherwise the game looses coherency and gameplay dissolves into "10 year old kids yelling on mics and general lack of coordination". If you don't treat it serious, that's what you get. Of course 10 year olds...

General Gaming Megathread: What are you playing?

I guess it's a matter of preference, but I always liked a pure contest of skill more. Also, folks taking every kind of advantage like, using your example, standing on a 1" ledge simply kill the atmosphere. I like to immerse myself when playing the game and such things simply break the suspension...

General Gaming Megathread: What are you playing?

Unfortunatly, most multiplayer games are fun only until people learn how to exploit and break them. Then it's a grind to perfect using these exploits to make sure you aren't even able to land a single shot at them while they are mowing down 90% of your team, including you. At that point you...

Jesus Fucking Christ, fuck the genres. Who cares about them anymore? It's good to categorize things up, but let go of the stiff boundaries.

    Is NV too much NCR-Sided?

I hope the Burned Man will make an appearence in a DLC as a Follower. That'd make Legion play pretty cool, assuming he won't want to exact revenge on every Legionaire he sees. Perhaps being able to overthrow Caesar and install Graham in his place?
