It's great to see how many people in that comment section have such insight into the inner workings of BGS, and what kind of time and budget constraints they're under.

I agree it is rather amusing. I especialy love how every critique has to be prefaced with "I love Fallout 4, but" or "Bethesda did an awesome job, but." It's very cult like with the moderators on their site lurking around ready to enforce the word of Todd.

Flagging an NPC as protected instead of essential has nothing to do with story, it's a gameplay mechanic, one that goes a long way in giving a player a sense of freedom from a company that claims that as their #1 selling point.
