As far as a can tell the only gameplay difference is that women can get the Black Widow and Cherchez La Femme perks while Men can get the Lady Killer and Confirmed Bachelor perks. These unlock unique gay and straight dialogue. I'm pretty sure that's it.

Wuh?! How long did it take you to finish Half Life 2? It was roughly 30 hours for me. You could probably play though it in 15 hours after you've been though it a couple of times but on a first play I doubt many people would manage under 20.
