    F4F: Evil

"Evil" is a silly concept. Of course it'd be evil. The question is whether it would be harmful. Killing people isn't bad because it's evil, it's bad because it's harmful. That's part of the reason military action is pretty much okay: killing people who want to harm you can be justified...

Why do so many people here think First Person excludes RPG?

Responding to the original question: FPP is to ISO/3PP as RT is to TB. The idea behind FPP is "looking through your character's eyes". Obviously it's an imperfect system (real humans have peripheral view, smell and three-dimensional hearing), but that's just the current limitations of the...

Any chance for Van Buren? Ever?

No. Unless someone makes Wasteland 2 and it turns out as a spiritual successor to Fallout -- which would be irony of fate.

What do you prefer? (forms of government)

That's why you need orbital lasers first. Revolt and you're dead. Now all I need is a way to trick NASA into funding this project. EDIT: Oh, and machines are as flexible as you make them. WTF do you think your brain is if not a natural machine?

What do you prefer? (forms of government)

Well, duh. If it's hard to find ONE to start with, that's a given. No, not really. If you pay any attention to the media and politicians at all, they are being rather literal about equality. Hence why cripples are "differently abled", PC-ly. No, not really. It's true that democracy...

What do you prefer? (forms of government)

Benevolent Dictatorship > Corrupt Democracy Why? Well, corruption turns democracy into uncontrolled oligarchy. That means in terms of who's in control, the two aren't too different. The only difference, then, is the consequences -- and a benevolent dictator is then preferable by definition...

Yet another potential way civilization is going to end

There was a documentary on possible post-human scenarios on TV some months ago. One of them had the oceans full of meta-jellyfish floating islands like beehives where every jellyfish fulfilled a certain role. Fear the meta-jellyfish floaters!

    Tranquility Lane Solution *Spoilerz*

Look into the Wiki for more details. From what I gather, the solution is in the background theme though. That said, audio puzzles are so last decade.

    Fallout 3 reviews round-up #95

Apparently "Bugs", a loanword in German, is translated by the bot as "nose", which is weird because the only interpretation of the phrase that could possibly pass would be the genitive of "Bug" (as in "Schiffsbug", the front part of a ship). Apparently the bot thought it was a nautical article.

    Bonefire recreational flamethrower

It's not a flamethrower, it's a blowtorch. As said above, real flamethrowers are about dispensing flammable material and setting THAT on fire rather than just spouting burning gas.

    Philosophical Questions

Wait, those aren't philosophical at all. They're rather easy. No, but this really depends on how you define chaos. The mere lack of structure would equal my definition of chaos, but there's nothing problematic with that kind of chaos. Yes. Because you don't need to be wise in order to be...

    Fallout Tactics Intro song ?

What does Inon Zur have to do with Fallout Tactics? I thought he only got into Fallout with Fallout 3?

    Gun "nut" they are not.

Actually, I think, Beth's problem tends to be the LACK of reaction mixed with the already existing over-reactions. The problem is, of course, what to do if the townsfolk has no reasonable chance of defeating you, but you set your mind on slaughtering them one-by-one? Obviously, any guards...

    Gun "nut" they are not.

That's why I said the result would be compared to a personal variable. I'm perpetually working on my own RPG in which I'm using a calculation like that to make combat less stupid. The idea is that most NPCs wouldn't shoot you if you only hit them with a melee weapon unless they can't win the...

    Fallout Tactics Intro song ?

If it's not in the credits and not in the manual, most people probably won't know.

    Gun "nut" they are not.

Actually, it's not that difficult to account for non-lethal combat either. For example, NPCs could make a quick threat assessment of you and decide (say, depending on a personal variable) whether it's too great: e.g. how many times you would need to hit them with your weapon in order to kill...

    Possible to implement ironsites?

I think you mean "iron sights". Proper spelling can be helpful for efficient communication and convincing other people of paying attention to you. I would think the problem is not so much the modelling, but the actual "aiming view" tactical FPS games usually have, which requires camera movement.

    Gun "nut" they are not.

It's not so much a game breaker as it is a nuisance. I'm not a gun nut myself, but if you're GOING to put some effort in an air of realism surrounding your guns (e.g. using real-life calibres or models), you might as well put another hour in and look up the real-life stats of those calibres...

    Gun "nut" they are not.

Actually you CAN balance high-powered weapons in games. If your game's economy works at all, you can just use that to balance it. Also weight, reliability and such can be used as checks and balances. You want to use that .50 cal anti-tank rifle? Fine, but there's barely any ammo available and...

    Fallout 3: Quests

To be fair, if they only took Fallout 2 as a reference, they merely did what Fallout 2 did with the franchise, just on a different order of magnitude. Anybody remember how much whining there was about Fallout 2 being a travesty because of New Reno and all the other random theme parks and...
