Right click on the desktop -> Properties -> Settings tab. And in there was supposed to be some sort of a thingy that you were supposed to enable or something else like that. Sorry, but I don't remember it very clearly. Or did it have something to do with the BIOS and enable something in there...

Which version was the earlier FO2 game where you copied the saved games? I'm not 100% sure but some patches are not compatible with saved games from other patches. Did you try the save game converter?

Uninstall the game. Then try installing the humongous installation size then apply 1.05 and after the 1.05 update1. If I remember correct, you don't have to update the game with the official updates. 1.05 + update will do.
