Why do you think a crossbow was never added?

If Fallout is so implausible and un-realistic - not that the majority of arguements are rendered null by this fact - why are you trying to use realistic arguements for why a crossbow should exist?

    Fallout 3 and NV

I was hardly a dead franchise anyway, Van Buren was cancelled in 2003 and - IIRC - Bethesda bought and began developing Fallout 3 only two years later at the most - I always thought they started in 2004.

Why do you think a crossbow was never added?

Because a flamethrower doesn't require re-inventing by tribals. Your arguement is paper thin, why would tribals reinvent the crossbow when they have shown in multiple incarnations that guns are the prefered weapon of choice for even the most backward of societies?

Why do you think a crossbow was never added?

... in your opinion. Immediately after the war in concrete jungles like LA, people still used guns and those niche weapons, to the rural sticks of Shady Sands, people still prefered and used those weapons. abd in the tribal zones of Utah and Arroyo, people still used those weapons. Ergo...

Why do you think a crossbow was never added?

And the fact that we've seen more of those being used than any crossbow should indicate that no-body thought to make a damn crossbow.

Why do you think a crossbow was never added?

I still say that with the overabunence of firearms - even amongst tribals it seems - the idea of the Crossbow would never have been thought of, i.e. they would never have conceived such a device. Wasn't the Crossbow originally created as a simple medieval to the Bow? Something that the...

Things we learned from Fallout 3

    538. Though still suffering from massive pre-war inflation, a wad or pre-war dollars still have value in the wasteland market - more in-fact than bottle caps do.

    Guns or Energy Weapons

Same, like it could have been on a sling over the shoulder to it kind of rests at your side when your not using it; like it would be in real life.

Things we learned from Fallout 3

    536. The cap was actually a unit of currency widely used in the pre-war days, possibly even in greater use than the dollar giving that it featured on Vault-Tec's Bartering Bobblehead.

Things we learned from Fallout 3

    533. Sometime before the war, all equipable items were made from an experimental polymer which allowed them to resize automatically to the operator.

    A wishful Throwback

I loved the Dr Zero saying. "Was it holotapes or holodisks? Never could quite remember." But yeah, if I could suggest something to come back? I don't know. It's weird I think. Like Vault City is my most prominent example, but that and a lot of the other old stuff just seems to exist in...

    Fallout-ish Items etc.

That's not my radio but the same model, I don't have a decent camera. Well... But as I say it wouldn't be useful for posting a pic :p. I love all this old stuff, got my folks to take me around some nearby antique shops a few weeks ago to find something for my 18th birthday. Aside from...

Things we learned from Fallout 3

    531. All US Army Trucks have the same seriel number, the pre-war Army Logistics was a nightmare.

Lack of Russian and German weapons

Whilst set in the a 1950-imagining of the future it isn't the 1950's, by the time of the Great War the Second World War occured more than 100 years ago. And yes weapons like the BAR and such are apparently still manufactured, that's different though; your saying that there should have been an...

    Plasma or Laser

Snob. Your like my uncle; tried to make him watch Star Wars and after five minutes of silence he just asked, "Why do the lasers explode?" If I hadn't dropped Physics - and could therefore call myself a "physicist" - I would have no problem anyway. I was pretty on the fence about laser...

    Plasma or Laser

Maybe it's just the elitist/superiority complex in me but I always prefer plasma. Sure plasma is no-where near as rare or powerful as it was but I just can't shake it from my head. Until I get my Gauss Pistol it will be plasma all the way. Exactly. Instead of a pissy beam in Fallout 1 & 2...

Things we learned from Fallout 3

Really? I assume then that's it's little more than Bethesda's deamonising. "Son, what you did to that town was wrong. It's certainly not what I would sacrifice myself for, and if you won't give your life and sacrifice for everyone else then your a wicked person who's already dead to me."

Things we learned from Fallout 3

I think that he might have been refering to more in-lore affects such as hair-loss etc. For example Moria get's ghoulified pretty much instantly by the bomb but even other Ghouls in Fallout 3 say that it was a steady process that lasted a few months and she survived the Great War! Not...

Why do you think a crossbow was never added?

And I don't see how it is? How any of the typical pre-war suburbanites can just sit down and design a crossbow. I've said it before, we're typical people right? Well go on then, design a crossbow. You don't have to make it but you can at least imagine and design how one would work and how you...
