Fallout 2 Restoration Project 2.1 (Unofficial FO2 Expansion)

No, it should be "its" expiration date. "It's" is "it is."

You should have DirectX 11, not DirectX 10, since that's the current version for Windows Vista and 7 (it was released just a few days after Windows 7). DirectX 9 and 11 (or 10) will coexist fine, and it won't downgrade your latest DirectX install.

There's nothing so elaborate available, but any bugs for the restoration project should be posted on the F2RP Technical Info wiki page.

Fallout 2 Restoration Project 2.0 (Unofficial FO2 Expansion)

Re: annoying battle saved game issues Then you've gotten lucky. The Fallout engine, from the very beginning, has had major flaws when it comes to saving in combat. Come to think of it, the Fallout engine was bug-ridden in too many ways to count, but one of the constants, ever since 1997, has...

Fallout 2 Restoration Project 2.0 (Unofficial FO2 Expansion)

Hmm. So does this mean that if you update the high res patch to add more features, or fix as-yet unknown bugs, that we won't be able to install it on an RP2 installation unless Killap releases a new version with your patch? Or will you build whatever is necessary into a new version of your...

Fallout 2 Restoration Project 2.0 (Unofficial FO2 Expansion)

A number of us have asked, but I still haven't seen an answer - is there a way to change the rate of random encounters (not the world map animation speed)? A number of us are seeing virtually no random encounters, despite the world map moving at a normal speed. Random encounters are such a big...

Fallout 2 Restoration Project 2.0 (Unofficial FO2 Expansion)

Too few random encounters I just walked from Arroyo to Klamath without a single random encounter. I thought that was odd, so I walked around some more. I eventually hit a random encounter, but I had walked a distance equivalent to 8-10 times the distance between Arroyo and Klamath before it...

Fallout 2 Restoration Project 2.0 (Unofficial FO2 Expansion)

I found a bug that's left over from 1.2. When in Arroyo, if I go to my PipBoy's automap, Arroyo's maps have three "Desert" maps on the bottom. The first two are simply blank (I haven't left yet, so maybe they're yet to be filled in), but the third one crashes to the desktop.

Bearded guy with glasses? What's with the fallout.exe icon appearing as a photograph of a bearded head with glasses? The small icon is the normal Vault Boy icon, but the larger version of the icon that is called when I create a shortcut on my desktop is someone who looks like Newman from...

Fallout 2 Restoration Project 2.0 (Unofficial FO2 Expansion)

Killap, Thanks for the new version, and even more importantly, thank you for your quick responses to the various bug reports that people have been posting. I probably won't get a chance to install RP2.0 for a few days, and I definitely appreciate that you're able to so quickly work through...

Fallout 2 Restoration Project 1.2 (Unofficial FO2 Expansion)

At the conceptual level, it works fine, though not from a visual (graphics) perspective. Just as in almost every single game in history that has an inventory, the inventory itself is a container (albeit one that isn't specifically categorized as a specific kind of real-life container). It's not...

Fallout 2 Restoration Project 1.2 (Unofficial FO2 Expansion)

Even with a lower weight limit, Fallout doesn't pretend to be remotely realistic. Its very foundation is fantastical and unrealistic, as the post-apocalyptic world it's set it is not at all consistent with the effects of nuclear weapons. The land wouldn't be 99% barren decades after the blast...

Fallout 2 Restoration Project 1.2 (Unofficial FO2 Expansion)

Killap, Does this suggest that if there's a 2.1 version (or 2.01 or whatever), that we'll be able to continue saved games from 2.0? Thanks again for all of the work you're putting into FO2, making one of the best games in PC history even better.

Fallout 2 Restoration Project 1.2 (Unofficial FO2 Expansion)

I'm just the opposite. I'm not one who can play a game over and over and still enjoy it (except things like arcade-style or 4X games which are inherently different every time). I installed 1.2 *just* before 1.3 was announced. A few hours into playing, I stopped to wait for the imminent (ha!)...

No, the next version is going to be 2.0, not 1.3, because the changes are so significant.

Why not just "watch" the topic so that you'll get notified each time there's a new post? (Due, presumably, to a bug in NMA's implementation of this forum software, the "watch" feature gets turned off each time you REPLY to a thread, though, so you'll have to re-watch after posting). RSS...

Hi-Res Patches for Fallout1&2 & the BIS Mapper

Personally, I think the options panel is the logical place for it. It is a game option, like all of the others under the options panel. And why is it that big of a problem to do the extra click to change the resolution? It's not like it's a setting most people will be constantly changing...

I have the ability to urinate on the floor. Am I stupid or lazy for using the bathroom instead? :) If this restoration project implemented everything that possibly could be implemented, it'd never see the light of day. As it is, Killap hasn't had time yet to finish what he's already had...

Fallout 2 Restoration Project 1.2 (Unofficial FO2 Expansion)

Agreed. Fallout 2 is a long game (to the point where I felt like it kind of dragged towards the end when played it the FIRST time), and as much as I'm a huge fan who likes to replay it every handful of years, it doesn't have much instant replay value. Yeah, you can replay as a totally different...
